  • Stranger in Paradise

    • UNABRIDGED (4 hrs and 47 mins)
    • By Robert B. Parker
    • Narrated By James Naughton

Apache hitman "Crow" Cromartie's mission is simple: find young Amber Francisco and bring her back to her father, Louis, in Florida. It should be an easy payday for a pro like Crow, but there are complications. Amber, now living in squalor with her mother, Fiona, is mixed up with members of a Latino gang. And when Louis orders Crow to kill Fiona before heading back with Amber, he can't follow through.

Ross says: "Jesse and Crow - the next Spenser and Hawk?"
    "Could Not Tell"

The narration is so bad I could not get through 10 minutes. Always in third person. I listen to audiobooks compulsively and this was the worst ever encountered. If the book was good, could not tell. Maybe I will have to read! Who has time for that?

  • The Collector

    • UNABRIDGED (15 hrs and 44 mins)
    • By Nora Roberts
    • Narrated By Julia Whelan
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

From #1 New York Times-best-selling author Nora Roberts comes a novel of a woman who needs nothing, a man who sees everything, and the web of deceit, greed, and danger that brings them together - and that could tear them apart… As a professional house-sitter and freelance writer, nothing ties Lila Emerson down - not her work, not a home, and definitely not a relationship. She spends her life moving from one job to the next, sometimes crashing at a friend 's Manhattan apartment. And though she can appreciate her clients ' extraordinary homes, their expensive collections, and their adorable pets, Lila has never longed for possessions of her own. Everything she has, including her heart, is portable.

Joan says: "Good author and good narrator"
    "Okay. Not a favorite"

Did care fir narrator. Story sappy.
Didn't care for main character Lila.
Maybe because narration was not good.
    Only my opinion.

  • Ghost Ship: NUMA Files, Book 12

    • UNABRIDGED (12 hrs and 25 mins)
    • By Clive Cussler, Graham Brown
    • Narrated By Scott Brick
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

When Kurt Austin is injured attempting to rescue the passengers and crew from a sinking yacht, he wakes with fragmented and conflicted memories. Did he see an old friend and her children drown? Or was the yacht abandoned when he came aboard? For reasons he cannot explain, Kurt doesn't trust either version of his recollection.

    "Very suspenseful"
What did you love best about Ghost Ship?

I liked the different characters and action packed.
I am always a sucker for the "Good Guys" winning.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Yes, Cussler is a expert at keeping you on edge of seat.

What does Scott Brick bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Scott Brick is one of my favorites. In fact, often I will go to audio books he has narrated.
He always brings the characters to life.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

There were a lot of moments. There are many likeable characters and others you just hate!!!
I liked the touching moment at end with Olivia and the possibility of redemption.

  • Brothers and Bones

    • UNABRIDGED (14 hrs and 48 mins)
    • By James Hankins
    • Narrated By John Rubinstein
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Charlie Beckham is a rising star among federal prosecutors until, on the morning of the most important court day of his career, a deranged homeless man turns Charlie's life upside with a single word. He calls Charlie by a secret nickname known by only one other person in the world - Charlie's brother Jake, who went missing thirteen years ago. Charlie has a hundred questions but the homeless man disappears before Charlie can ask a single one.

Meggin says: "Held my interest from beginning to end"
    "One of the best."
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Highly recommend this one. I was not familiar with James Hankins, but this book made me a fan. Also John Rubinstein is one, if not one of my favorite narrators.
That is the only reason I downloaded this book.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Brothers and Bones?

There are many memorable moments and characters in this book from the main character Charlie to understanding homeless man "Bones" who ends up becoming a heroe of sorts.
It was about good versus evil and the nature and nurture of power.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Many moving moments and moments to replay.

    Any additional comments?

This book was complete starting with story, twists and turns and the unflapable Charlie trying to understand the loss of brother and coming to terms.
Charlie's sensability and sarcasm and humour make him a guy you wish you knew.

But alas it is fiction and a good book.

  • The Way of Kings: Book One of The Stormlight Archive

    • UNABRIDGED (45 hrs and 37 mins)
    • By Brandon Sanderson
    • Narrated By Kate Reading, Michael Kramer
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Roshar is a world of stone and storms. Uncanny tempests of incredible power sweep across the rocky terrain so frequently that they have shaped ecology and civilization alike. Animals hide in shells, trees pull in branches, and grass retracts into the soilless ground. Cities are built only where the topography offers shelter. It has been centuries since the fall of the ten consecrated orders known as the Knights Radiant, but their Shardblades and Shardplate remain: mystical swords and suits of armor.

Robert says: "It doesn't get any better than this!"
What would have made The Way of Kings better?

The narration was so boring! I couldn't get stand it.
I really tried. I consume books on tape. I read the reviews and was intrigued.

Might be great, but could do it. Michael Kramers, well, I fell asleep every time. Kate Reading (love the name:) was good. But too little too late.

What was most disappointing about Brandon Sanderson’s story?

I couldn't tell... good characters, too much bouncing around.

Would you be willing to try another one of Kate Reading and Michael Kramer ’s performances?

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The Way of Kings?

I can't based on the narration.

  • Evidence: An Alex Delaware Novel

    • UNABRIDGED (11 hrs and 50 mins)
    • By Jonathan Kellerman
    • Narrated By John Rubinstein
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

In the half-built skeleton of a monstrously vulgar mansion in one of L.A.'s toniest neighborhoods, a watchman stumbles on the bodies of a young couple - murdered in flagrante and left in a gruesome postmortem embrace. Though he's cracked some of the city's worst slayings, veteran homicide cop Milo Sturgis is still shocked at the grisly sight: a twisted crime that only Milo's killer instincts - and psychologist Alex Delaware's keen insights - can hope to solve.

    P. Giorgio says: "Good book... but"

    I love Kellerman. Jonathan.
AND love John Rubenstein. This audio book does not disappoint and I am hard to please.
Plus read an article about a year ago on his collection of guitars... cool how he incorporates the Robin the guitar maker....

    • UNABRIDGED (28 hrs and 2 mins)

He is a good man, a brilliant corporate executive, an honest, handsome family man admired by men and desired by women. But a lifetime ago Ben Tyson was a lieutenant in Vietnam. There the men under his command committed a murderous atrocity -- and together swore never to tell the world what they had done. "Nelson does it again"

I am a fan of Mr. Demille, and this one started a bit slow for me, but by the end I was gripped.

    I would recommend.

  • True Detectives: A Novel

    • UNABRIDGED (12 hrs and 20 mins)
    • By Jonathan Kellerman
    • Narrated By John Rubinstein

In Jonathan Kellerman's gripping novels, the city of Los Angeles is as much a living, breathing character as the heroes and villains who roam its labyrinthine streets. Sunny on the surface but shadowy beneath, this world of privilege and pleasure has a dark core and a dangerous edge. In True Detectives, Kellerman skillfully brings his renowned gifts for breathless suspense and sharp psychological insight to a tale that resonates on every level and satisfies at every turn.

    A User says: "Disappointing"
"For J Kellerman fans this is a must!"

I have listen to all of J Kellerman books.
This is all time best for me.
I wished a little more for Dr.Delaware and Lou Sturgis. However, the developed of brothers Moises and Erin makes this a must listen.
Bravo! Mr. Kellerman. Can wait for next installment.
