Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I have loved sci-fi from childhood and actually remembered one of the stories. A great way to spend some time while driving. As there are 3 stories, there are natural places to stop and take a break if you like.

This classic tale is a fantastical fable of two dear friends - one of whom goes astray and is literally lost to the north woods, while the other undertakes an epic journey to rescue him. This charming, strange, and wonderful story is a timeless allegory about growing up and the challenges of staying true to one's self, and it served as the wintry inspiration for the blockbuster hit Frozen.

It is interesting how split the opinion is. I am on the yeh side. I actually am reviewing this book because I wanted to check on who the narrator was so I can follow her and purchase more of her narrations. And some people don't like her narrations. Just goes to show that it takes all kinds to make the world go round.

Business guru Peter Drucker referred to the Salvation Army as "The most effective organization in the U.S." The Salvation Army has long been revered for its passionate adherence to its mission and purpose of delivering humanitarian and spiritual aid to anyone, no matter who they are. In this important book, former commissioner of the Salvation Army in the U.S. Robert Watson outlines those principles that not only guide that organization, but also can apply to companies, ministries, and organizations anywhere.

I try to listen to one self-improvement or betterment or history for each one of my passion - which is murder mystery.

This one just took a long time for me to listen to. The history of the Salvation Army is interesting, but I just found the general structure of the book somewhat boring.

That being said, it is clear the Salvation Army is : one hell of an organization...smile.

Return once more to a galaxy far, far away with this sublime retelling of George Lucas's epic Star Wars in the style of the immortal Bard of Avon. The saga of a wise (Jedi) knight and an evil (Sith) lord, of a beautiful princess held captive and a young hero coming of age, Star Wars abounds with all the valor and villainy of Shakespeare's greatest plays. 'Tis a tale told by fretful droids, full of faithful Wookiees and fearsome Stormtroopers, signifying...pretty much everything.

Because every scene in the movie is so familiar, listening to the "Bard's" take was delightful. I have been an Audible subscriber for years and do not believe I have enjoyed any listening experience as much as this one. At the start a smile came to my lips and never left.

    Highly recommend.

Conrad Nomikos has a long, rich personal history that he'd rather not talk about. And as arts commissioner, he's been given a job he'd rather not do. Escorting an alien grandee on a guided tour of the shattered remains of Earth is not something he relishes - especially since it is apparent that this places him at the center of high-level intrigue that has some bearing on the future of Earth itself.

50 + years ago, when I read this as a child...I did not understand it one bit. So at the age of 67, I thought I would give it another try. Just as bewildered. This is one of the few books I just gave up on and did not finish.

There is wonderful imagery in this story...unfortunately the imagery is usually completely unrelated to any story line.

I never like to criticize a narrator, so I won't, but I will not compliment him on this performance either.

I have read some of the other reviews, and " a lot" of people like this book...I'm just not one of them.

I love listening to books after I have watched the movie. The story is always great and the differences...what was left out and what was added in...are fascinating to discover.

This is a well-narrated book that is completely different from the movie. Just about the only thing the two have in common is the title.

If you like zombies, and who doesn't, you cannot pass this one up!!!

Dashiell Hammett’s The Maltese Falcon, first serialized in a magazine in 1930, is best known through the iconic Humphrey Bogart film of 1941. But it was the book that created the classic "noir" genre with its tough private detective threading his cool way between the criminals and the law. Sam Spade, the private eye solving the mystery of the Maltese statuette, was the template for Philip Marlowe and a host of others…. but they come no more shrewd and cunning with Hammett peppering the text with one-liners.

Would you listen to The Maltese Falcon again? Why?

I love listening to books that have been made into movies. These classic stories are great fun no matter how we enjoy them. Noticing the differences between the two stories is always entertaining. In this case, the endings are wildly different!!! Great fun.

The Humphrey Bogart movie is so ingrained in my mind, and I suspect yours, that, at first, hearing someone else's voice speak the famous lines is jarring. But after about 30 minutes or so, that went away and I was able to enjoy a nice narration.

There are actually 3 movie versions of this story; and I am going to track down the other two for fun.

This is an exclusive, original adventure for the 10th Doctor, read by David Tennant. Featuring additional music and effects, Doctor Who: Dead Air has never been previously published. Hot on the heels of a creature that exists through sound, the Doctor lands on a pirate radio station boat in the late 1960s. The creature has already killed some of the DJs, and the Doctor befriends the survivors. But then the lights go out, and a desperate race for survival begins.

Would you consider the audio edition of Doctor Who to be better than the print version?

These little episodes are meant to be listened to...not read. It is a challenge to longtime Dr. Who fans like myself to discover that the 'universe (of Dr Who) has expanded'. I will never ever get through them all....but it is great fun trying!!!!

What did you love best about Logan's Run?

It is always fun to listen to or read the book that inspired the movie. Visualizing the movie as I listen to the book it was interesting to see the change in characters and scenes. You could almost hear the writers. say well we can't do it the way they did it in the book but we can do it this way. This is a case where at this point in time the movie is definitely better than the book. The plot loses its way considerably And the ending is a letdown. But the author indulges himself in some fantastically described scenes that make up for that loss. All in all, a fun listen.

If you could sum up Ghost Story: The Dresden Files, Book 13 in three words, what would they be?

    Much fun

    Any additional comments?

The story was a bit long this time but the narration that is much been criticized was actually quite enjoyable. There is a bit of a jar every time a new character starts to speak but that goes away very quickly.
