I have listened to all of Belinda Alexandra's books that are available on Audible. I am impressed with how much her writing improves from one book to the next. That said, this book is her earliest published book available, and it is rather weak. It doesn't have the character or plot development or complexity of her latest books. While this one is not her finest, I will be looking forward to more Belinda Alexandra books. If you haven't already, I would suggest listening to "Golden Earrings" instead.
As someone who loved Shifting Fog, and throughly enjoyed Forgotten Garden I was thrilled to see the new Kate Morton book was finally available. Though still a good listen I dont think the character development, or story line are as strong in The Distant Hours. My attention wandered much more in this book than either of her others; The plot is rather similar to her other books & rather predictable. I will be interested to see what others who have not read Morton's other books will think of it, they may have a warmer review than mine.
