Joyful, Sad, Healing... These stories don't just tell of the joys and struggles of being a witch, but of everyday experiences felt by all of people-kind. I simply love the community and caring that is expressed in these stories.
When Sierra recognizes that she is no longer alone. Without ruining the story for a new reader, the love and caring and inclusiveness that the folks at Witch Central give to Sierra is wonderful. All of these stories pull at the heart-strings...
Yes I have and I absolutely Love Martha Harmon Pardee! I'm hoping Audible continues to bring Debora Geary's books to audible life, and sincerely hope Martha will be the performer. I so enjoy the personality her voice changes brings to the different characters.
There are a number of them... There are moments of happiness and fun. Moments of sorrow and deep sadness. Healing... and Joy... I don't want to ruin the surprise for anyone. Just know that you will be moved...
I really, really do hope Audible makes the rest of Debora's books available, again with Martha as the performer. I'd order all of them in a split second. I really don't want these stories to end.
Two things. One, the fact that Beth (the Different Witch) had Asperger syndrome and Debora really used the story and the characters to explain that very real disorder in such a wonderful way. Two, the fact that Beth was in a loving, long term relationship with another woman. Huge Kudos for both!!!
I continue to love Nat. She is such a calming, loving personality in a world of frenzy and action.
As always I love Martha Harmon Pardee's reading of these stories. I go from story to story, knowing exactly who is speaking. She really brings life and personality to the characters.
All of the Modern Witch books have had me laughing and crying. The most touching moments of this story were when the different people managed to connect, understand, and receive love.
Audible cannot put Debora Geary's books (with Martha Harmon Pardee performing them) out fast enough to suit me. I've already downloaded the next one and am excited to hear what happens next. Thank You!!!
Yes! I absolutely love this series and characters. The witchcraft brings unlike folks together and provides the basis for a large "family" and lots of fun. At the same time, these folks experience the same sort of things 'regular' folks do, birth, falling in love, sickness, death; many times with a huge magical twist. Regardless as to what is going on, there is always a sense of belonging, togetherness, caring, and love.
I've said it before in other reviews and again here. I love all the characters and the way Martha Harmon Pardee 'reads/speaks' them. I easily follow the shift from one character to the next. Probably one of my favorites is Aunt Moira; I love the lilt in her accent.
I don't really want to give any of the book away, but will say that there was many a moment in this story that was heart-wrenchingly sad... But... The sadness is always balanced by happiness...
I can't wait for the next books to be released. I've gotten all five of Debora Geary's books and know there are more. Audible, please record the next ones and get them released!!!
Yes! And I have many times!!! I just love these stories!! I listen to all of them over and over again.
This was a great story to learn about Nell and her family. In the Modern Witch series, her family is already established. With this you really get to know "her" and Jamie and her mother.
I love them all!
I continue to be mystified by folks that say they don't like Martha Pardee's reading of this series. I could not image the folks in these stories "sounding" any other way. If readers were switched, I'd be very sad. I think Martha does a Fantastic job!
Absolutely! I was looking for a fun, enjoyable story. I laughed out loud and... cried in the happy parts... It is just a story that is nice to listen to.
Love the reader. Martha does a wonderful job changing her voice so that you know who the character is without having to be told. Was very happy that she narrates all the stories.
Oh yes! I mostly listen to my ipod in the car. For the first time in a long time, I find myself sitting in the car after I've reached my destination so I can listen a little longer.
I'm on the second book now, and I hope Debora continues to write more stories about these wonderful, loving "people".
