I was intrigued enough by the first book to listen to the second one. I thought it was a bit disappointing. The story seems to take off in a totally different direction, I was looking forward to finding out what happened to the main characters, but their story was just sort of sprinkled into what almost felt like a whole new book. Confused, not sure I'll continue on to the next one.

After nearly four years, the zombie epidemic has almost burnt itself out. Gus' new life on a communal farm is peaceful. The daily routine of policing the fields is rarely disrupted by straying undead. His drinking binges are over. Long days have thrown time over the memories of Annapolis. But this will all change.

I love this entire series and none of the books have been a disappointment, they have all been a wild ride. Gus returns in book 4 but a much different Gus than we have come to know. This is the first time we get to see how Gus interacts with lots of other people and it was a shock to see how vulnerable the character could be. No spoilers, you won't be disappointed. Check it out.

This is the fifth novel in the action-packed series following Special Forces Captain Lee Harden and a group of survivors struggling to make their way in a ruined world. After a bacterium has turned 90 percent of the population into a ravenous horde, Lee must complete his mission: SURVIVE, RESCUE, REBUILD.

I'm a fan of this series, but I was not a fan of this individual story. I don't really think it added much to the overall tale and it felt like it was only "filler" to drag the series out. I would like to know how the whole story plays out but I feel as if this material could have been left out all together.

I really liked the first story in this series. However, it almost felt like this one was written by someone else. I was not a huge fan of the narration either. I didn't like Sandra Wolfe as a character and overall, just don't like the direction that this 2nd book is taking the story. Unsure if I will continue to the 3rd or not. I didn't think this was a good follow up to Edward's story and was disappointed overall.

Jack Walker and Michael Talbot come from two worlds; the same, yet different. They both find themselves transported into an alien one, where things aren’t as they seem. While it appears similar to the ones they come from, there are some terrifying differences. Is it a dream? Or has reality been somehow warped? Jack comes from a world filled with nocturnal creatures that were once human, but now seek to destroy the last vestiges of humanity.

I had to stop listening to this again and again because I felt like I was missing something. But no, I verified that this is the first book in the series. These characters must have come from elsewhere, they have a history because there is too much happening or too much that has happened that I do not understand for this to be book 1. The other very difficult thing with this listen is that Mike and Jack, sound exactly the same. The only differentiated voice is Trip's. Not a favorite. Might actually return it.

Welcome to the mountains of Pennsylvania, one of the last vestiges of the human race. Lance York, a self-described loser in another life, has rediscovered himself in the midst of the apocalypse. Along with a cadre of other survivors, including the hardened, sexy Cass, Lance has taken refuge in a compound, struggling to survive the onslaught of monstrosities descending upon them each night.

    Story

I've enjoyed this series, however, after three listens I have just a bit of an issue with the main character, Lance. I don't understand how he can still, three books in, be so stupid. He's a very like able character, but he's gotten no smarter as this saga continues and I really struggle with that. It's like the author has to keep him pretty dense in order to create drama. I also have to mention that I am so confused that Cass is always reflected on the cover for these books. She's not the main character and the story is not told from her perspective. Those are just my petty gripes. Overall, it's a good listen and the characters are enjoyable. A little over 6 hours each so they're pretty quick hits as well.

During the Outbreak, like billions of others, a man finds himself infected with the Phage. Desperate to spare his family from watching him become a walking nightmare, he flees. Soon after, he is dead. Two years later, he wakes up. Not in the afterlife, but in his own body. Trapped, unable to control the monster that carries him, and forced to witness the horror of its existence.

Another story to add to the small group of books that tell the zombie tale from a different perspective and that's why I liked it. Not overwhelmingly good but if you need a little change from the typical stuff you've read in the genre give it a try.

I love this entire series and have listened to each of them with my family. Each of the stories mature, you just can't help following this family along through all of their trials. Finally in book 3, they continue their journey to finally find their home land. Great for all ages. It's something you will put in that special place for all-time favorites.

Our favorite white trash zombie, Angel Crawford, has enough problems of her own, what with dealing with her alcoholic, deadbeat dad, issues with her not-quite boyfriend, the zombie mafia, industrial espionage, and evil corporations. Oh, and it’s raining, and won’t let up. But things get even crazier when a zombie movie starts filming in town, and Angel begins to suspect that it’s not just the plot of the movie that's rotten. Soon she's fighting her way through mud, blood, bullets, and intrigue, even as zombies, both real and fake, prowl the streets.

Yes, it's about zombies, but even they won't feel familiar to you in this story. The entire take on the genre, the perspective, the main character are so A typical, you are going to be begging for more by the end of it. The character development, is quite wonderful. Angel is a character you want to get to know. The beauty of it is that, there's so much potential for her to grow and mature and that equals so much material for a long and lovely friendship between this character and the reader. Loved it.

"Mountain Man" Augustus Berry is a survivor in undead suburbia. He scavenges what he can from what's left over. He is very careful in what he does and where he goes, taking no chances, no unnecessary risks, and weighing every choice...until he decides to visit the hospital at the edge of town, and experiences terror the likes he's never encountered before.

It's very easy for me to get interested in anything narrated by R.C. Bray which is really the only reason I decided to check this out. I've read the sequels to this and I am glad I did. What I can tell you is that, it's a creepy little story, but it's a very nice introduction to a great character. I like Gus and I'm sure that you're going to want more than the little tidbit The Hospital will provide. So carry on when done. The Mountain Man awaits.

I read this because I read the short story, The Hospital and became interested in the main character, Gus. This was a nice little guilty pleasure. Gus is such an interesting character that I found myself imagining his full back story, only a small portion of which we get in the book. He's a good guy, but not in a typical way. Yes, there are zombies in this book, but the live people are what make it so interesting. It's rare that I find a character that I become quite this invested in. I don't think you'll be disappointed here.
