In 1999 in the Los Rios region of southern Chile, orthopedic surgeon, devoted wife, and loving mother Dr. Mary Neal drowned in a kayak accident. While cascading down a waterfall, her kayak became pinned at the bottom and she was immediately and completely submerged. Despite the rescue efforts of her companions, Mary was underwater for too long, and as a result, died. To Heaven and Back is Mary’s remarkable story of her life’s spiritual journey and what happened as she moved from life to death to eternal life, and back again.

    Story

Amazing listen - both the story and performance. I do not doubt the facts in this book at all and really appreciate the willingness of Dr. Mary Neal to share the intimate details of her life.

This book has brought me to a place where I want to keep growing spiritually and has deepened my relationship with my higher power. I am not a "religious person" and there was a lot of reference to the bible in the story but IMHO each reading from the bible related to each chapter in the book and only enhanced the book.

I don't believe in coincidences. Listen to this audio book - you won't be disappointed.

    Story

Awesome book! The story and the readers were so real. Gave me true insight into the life of an obese person and someone who lives with an alcoholic. Hit very close to home and helped me to feel compassion.

Was sad when the book ended. Wanted to follow along their path.

One late fall Sunday in southern Minnesota, a farmer brings a load of soybeans to a local grain elevator - and a young man hits him on the head with a steel bar, drops him into the grain bin, waits until he's sure he's dead, and then calls the sheriff to report the "accident." Suspicious, the sheriff calls in Virgil Flowers, who quickly breaks the kid down...and the next day the boy's found hanging in his cell. Remorse? Virgil isn't so sure....

I rarely write reviews but after listening to this I felt I had to. I bought it because other reviews said it was worth it. This was a waste of my $4.95 that I paid for it. To begin with the story is so slow. It's two parts, nine hours I believe and it just drags. You don't get to the meat of the story till the last few hours and when you do, you say who cares. Worst part of all was the narration. Maybe if there was a different narrator the story would have been a little more bearable. But the narrator was as boring as the story if not more so. I could listen to this story for hours and not comprehend any of it and keep on listening and it didn't matter a bit. Don't waste your time or money. BORING

On a rainy Southern night, Jade Sperry endured a young woman's worst nightmare at the hands of three local hell-raisers. Robbed of her youthful ideals and at the center of scandal and tragedy, Jade ran as far and as fast as she could. But she never forgot the sleepy "company town" where every man, woman, and child was dependent on one wealthy family.

I am about half way through this audio book. Can't wait to get back in my car and hate to get out of it. Dick Hill is one of my all time favorite narrators and I think he brings this story to life, including the voices of the females. You won't be dissapointed if you download this.

I bought this thinking it would be as good as the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Boy am I disappointed. There are parts that just seem to drag. I listen to audio books while I run and usually they get me thru the run without me even realizing I ran. Not this one.
