I loved the story in its written form but I was very disappointed with the reading of this book! For myself, the biggest difference between a bad narrator and a good narrator is their ability to interject emotion in the reading. The difference between a good narrator and a great narrator is someone who can make all of the voices emotional and distinctive.
What disappointed me was that this new reader seemed to have no idea who or what the established characters were about! Rio is from RIO DE JANEIRO. He’d have a Portuguese accent and if that accent was a bit much, a Spanish accent would have worked. Something distinctive! Steel one of the biggest meanest looking men on the teams had a little wimpy voice with almost no distinction from anyone else. One of the team members is from Texas. Even a bad southern accent would have been preferable. What bothered me the most is there was no distinguishing between the male and female voices.
I think that if Harry was too busy to do this book in time for the coinciding release dates I would have preferred to wait until Harry was free to read this book. At least he has a grasp of all of the key players.
I have always LOVED, LOVED, LOVED Kristen Ashley books and to have them coming out in an Audio format is a dream come true!!!
Brock Lucas and Tessa O' Hara make such a beautiful couple... Tessa with her history is an amazingly strong woman who over comes her hardships with a heart big enough to embrace all of the people in her life!
Brock is a strong enough man to stand by her!!! While he has his own set of issues he comes across as protective and caring without being smothering.
I think what makes them work is their willingness to make something good out of the ashes!!!
For those of you who are familiar with Kristen Ashley you already know that this woman is pure brilliance! She knows exactly how to blend strong female leads with rough and tumble alpha males into a sometimes funny, sometimes sweet, and ALWAYS sexy story!
I am kind of ambivalent towards the narrator... I had hoped for SO much more since this is a Kristen Ashley book but I find myself disappointed. There is a brilliant rant that could have been given so much zing, zip, pop, to really make this audiobook so much better but the opportunity to take it to the next level wasn't reached.
Still, I LOVE the writer and would and do recommend the audiobook to all Kristen Ashley fans!
If you are looking for a story with depth and realism then most anything written by Kristen Ashley is for you! The trials and tribulations of Shy and Tabby will suck you in from the first word to the last! As always the narrator can make or break book. With that same thought a great narrator can make the book even better and Angela Starling made this a great book. Her voice for the characters really brought them alive!
My ONLY complaint is that this is a spinoff series. Unless you read Motorcycle Man from the Dream Man series some of these characters won’t make a lot of sense. I sincerely PRAY that Audible or whoever decides audiobooks produces the Dream Man series and anything else by Kristen Ashley!!!!
A good narrator can make a mediocre book great or horrible. With this, it was a mediocre book, meaning there wasn't a lot of surprised. The narrator didn't do anything to make the book more interesting. At times it was hard to follow because there was no change in between the male and female characters. Over all I was pretty disappointed.
This was a rocking good time from the first words out of the narrator's mouth... As always I try not to give too much away but I seriously hope that the author gets the lead out and another book comes soon!!! There is So much, TOO much story and characters left to explore!!!
While the story it's self was okay. I was disappointed by the delivery of the book
I fell in love with KGI series after reading The Darkest Hour. If you are in the mood for heartbreak, forgiveness, and redemption then this is the book for you! As always I hate giving anything away but this book made me run out and buy all of the books in the KGI series. Maya Banks has the unbelievable talent with her writing to draw a person into the story and anchor you not only to the main characters but to the secondary characters. So much so you anticipate their stories just as much as the main story.
Harry Berkeley is an amazingly talented reader. He brings such warmth to each of the characters and is the perfect complement to Maya Bank’s writing talent. Now if Recorded books and Audible would get book two out before book six comes out next year!
What I love about Maya Banks is that she knows how to write a strong female character without turning her into a raving, you know what and her male characters know how to be strong as steel with an inner core of sweetness!
So to put it simply if you are a fan of Maya Banks this is a series for you!
As always I encourage Audible to get the rest of the series as soon as possible!
The biggest problem that I have with rereleases is that the social norms, technology, and dress tend to be a bit distracting and glaringly obvious.
