    "Good book, Bad Narrator"
    Overall

Knowing this is just the first book of a series and how most series start off kinda slow, I enjoyed this story even tho it started very very slowly, but I found it very hard in some places to distinguish the difference between character's voices. I imagine if i were to read a hard copy of this book I would enjoy it more and be able to follow certain sections better.

As war continues to rage between the Alliance and Syndicate Worlds, Captain "Black Jack" Geary is promoted to admiral - even though the ruling council fears he may stage a military coup. His new rank gives him the authority to negotiate with the Syndics, who have suffered tremendous losses and may finally be willing to end the war. But an even greater alien threat lurks on the far side of the Syndic occupied space.

    "Good Book, Excellent Series"
    Overall

If you read the other books of this series then this one is very predictable but still makes for a good listen. The series as a whole is excellent and Christian Rummel did an awesome job with his narration.

The first book of best-selling sci-fi author Jack Campbell’s new series Beyond the Frontier returns to find Captain John “Black Jack" Geary, the hero of the Lost Fleet series, awoken from cryogenic sleep to take command of the fleet. Geary’s legendary exploits have earned him the adoration of the people—and the enmity of politicians convinced that a living hero can be a very inconvenient thing.

This series is absolutely amazing. I found it very hard to put all of this series books down. I also have to give kudos to the narrator, his voice distinctions are excellent and made for a great listen.
