Media consultant Veronica St. John has been hired to teach a rugged Navy SEAL to impersonate a European prince who's been targeted by terrorists. But one conversation and Veronica knows there's no way she can turn streetwise New Yorker Joe Catalanotto into nobility. Joe, on the other hand, is confident he's got what it takes. Two days isn't a lot of time to get the job done...but it's enough time to fall in love.

    Any additional comments?

This is a light and entertaining romantic adventure with nice people who do as you would expect. It was fun to listen to. It had a feel good happy ending. I enjoyed it for exactly what it was supposed to be: entertainment with nothing distressing.

Hoping to bring some Tinseltown money to the Valley, the mayor lures a movie studio to town to shoot their next production, a big-budget Western in the classic tradition. The star is none other than ruggedly handsome—and notoriously badly behaved—Thad Perry. When the mayor decides that someone needs to keep an eye on Thad so that he doesn’t get into too much trouble, Bernie and Chet are handpicked for the job. The money is good but something smells fishy....

Chet is delightful. Bernie is smart and pretty cool.

Together they figure out and fix a complex problem with roots well into the past. Along the way they find some romance.

Chet's chicken's may come home to roost (Chet is the dog, Bernie is the detective) and that is interesting as we so often think of dogs as having no personal life.

If you like a good detective story and you like animals, you'll like this. Chet narrates much of the book, responding and speaking as a dog and with a dog's perspective on the events his owner drags him through. I have read a few others of this series and find it delightful.

Chet's voice is so much like what I think my own dog would think and say. Even if you don't like dogs you'd like the book because the story is good.

At the age of 22, Jennifer Worth left her comfortable home to move into a convent and become a midwife in postwar London’s East End slums. The colorful characters she met while delivering babies all over London - from the plucky, warm-hearted nuns with whom she lived to the woman with 24 children who couldn't speak English to the prostitutes and dockers of the city’s seedier side - illuminate a fascinating time in history.

Maybe because I'm a nurse, but this is so accurate and what a good historical snapshot of how it is to enter someone's home, provide intimate care and then move on to the next home, having touched the lives of everyone and that includes yourself.

Good slice of life. Some things no one can fix. Some things can be improved. Some miracles occur, on a daily basis. Health care, whether then or now, is dealing with humanity at it's best and worst.

If you like medical stories and good stories in general, you'll enjoy it. Every bit as good as the TV show.

From the beginning it packs a wallop. Family. Cops. Change of venue that still manages to be home. Friends. History. Sex. Deceit. Friendship. Adaptation. Confidence. Skill. Law. This one has it all.

I am a huge fan of this series. Also on A and E TV but books are not the same as the show so do them both.

Cady is hurt and Walt goes to her side, and solves the mystery. Along the way he learns more about Vic. Henry shows up and helps. Even Dog is there. Good plot but it's not the plot that makes this book, it's the characters. They are finely drawn and full of life with all it's beauty, mystery and heart.

I liked this one very much. Superior use of your credit. Keep reading. The whole darn series is this way. It sneaks up on you and sticks with you, making you better for having read it.

    Story

This series is just plain excellent.
This entry shows us greed, drug business, family politics and life in a small town. One does not have to leave Podunk to find drama. I live in a small town and know that for sure, but so does our author.

The writing is excellent. Plot fast paced. Characters finely drawn. There is something kindly and yet real about Craig Johnson's world in Wyoming.
I'm not a reader of Westerns, at all, never have been. His books are about life, that just happens to be in a small town, in the West, and includes a mystery.

Don't miss this series. I consider it one of the best out there. Also see it on A and E, although the books are not repeated so don't let that stop you from reading.

Loved Dog's (his dog is named Dog) role in this one, by the way. When you love animals it shows in your writing and you can't leave them out.
Another reviewer mentioned Vic's potty mouth. It's not gratuitous and fits her character, and works for the books.

Each character is individual, with their own clear voice, not one dimensional and homogenous as in some author's works.

Against the scandal and seduction of Regency England, New York Times best-selling author Mary Balogh introduces an extraordinary family - the fiery, sensual Huxtables. I got this on sale because it was a fun and light story with enough depth to not put me to sleep or make me laugh out loud at the simplicity of plot.
    The writing is good.
The plot interesting with a few twists and turns.
Characters had some depth and development. Not your usual heaving bosoms and darkly handsome misunderstood and incredibly rich secretly wounded older and wiser artistocratic male lead. The female lead was smart and not a sweet young thing just waiting to be introduced to life.
    The ending was happy.
What can I say, I read "hard stuff" but TV bores me and I occasionally like a good romance novel, sort of like snitching a chocolate candy now and then.
If you're going to indulge, this is a good choice and is worth your time. I was promised a good historical romance and I got one.

Meet Anita Thompson: she's young, she's lovely, she's clever, and she's a witch. A real one. Anita lives in two worlds: the modern world of supermarkets and sports cars, radio and rock-and-roll, where she is a thoroughly modern girl with a thoroughly modern interest in boys and fast living and her own independence. But she also lives in the ancient and rustic world of traditions, cauldrons, and familiars.

Each story was about a hero, perhaps a bit of a dark one, but they were all doing what they could to make their world better, even if they got a little satisfaction or cash for themselves along the way.
Each author is solid, skilled and reputable.
I never felt like I was listening to short stories, which I dislike. It was like a series of novellas. If you like one of these authors, and who wouldn't, take a chance on hearing someone new. I've found a few new authors from these books and this is my third of the compilations.
Not one was a novella I'd prefer to skip over. All were worth the time and shared credit.
    I recommend.

I've liked some of her other's more. Seemed on the light side.

For older children, elementary to teen.
    Delightful characters.

Real life motivations put into story form to teach children how to deal with unpleasant people and those with ulterior motives. If your child is dealing with "mean kids" I think this book will help them deal with school better.

Story is fun, fast and although for kids it held my attention.
    Unique characters.

Really recommend. If you enjoy YA or children's lit, you'll like this.

The title itself is indicative of the dual edge message and psychological insight the book offers kids of all ages.
