"Not the best from author"
the main theme of marital difficulties revolved around 4 main characters. There was too much focus and content on marital issues. The pacing was also slow, IMO. Franny Hardy was in jail for 4 days which made this a somewhat depressing listen.
Colacci is excellent.
franny should have been released on day 2, and the other sub plots could have been better developed, esp the killers in this story.
"Too dark. Overemphasis on character angst"
Difficult to listen of 12 hours of the main character's suffering and obstacles. Author should have altered it or employed some type of pacing or relief.
No, if this is his standard writing style
Scott Brick is usually excellent. I don't think he should have sung nursery rhymes as 1 of the characters. It sounded like a difficult story for him to maintain.
ending was acceptable and somewhat predictable. The plot finally turned and made sense with the visit to the casino.
Should have been a shorter book, as 85% of the story was about the main characters suffering and angst
"Complete Waste of Time"
This is so horribly written and the narrator is just awful. Total waste of time. I could barely make it through the first eight chapters before I had to throw in the towel. Thank goodness it was free but I shouldn't have wasted a credit on this piece of trash.
"if you Like Margaret Atwood, this is a must listen"
great story and fascinating characters
Xenia, who was mysterious and impacted the lives of all in this story
convincing depiction of different characters
"Outstanding legal/crime drama.1 of the series best"
its in my top 5 , maybe top 3 for the Dismas Hardy/Abe Glitzky series
The court room scenes are terrific. I enjoyed the corrupt police angle. Excellent pacing and it held my interest.
Another great job by Colacci
"My Favorite Dismas/Abe Legal Drama"
See my title. I greatly enjoyed this audiobook
Suggest you listen to First Oath , then Second Chair, for continuity.
This audio book was so good, I did not want it to end !
Dismas has evolved and matured in this book. His character is the lead in this legal drama.
I don't think thats possible with a 16 hour audio book. However, the last 2 hours will hold you.
"Top Notch Legal/Crime Drama"
This might be my favorite of the Dismas Hardy/Abe Glitzky series
Glitzky is my favorite character in this audio book, as the embattled former lieutenant in this thrilling story. The author did a great job with the Glitzky character, who has no official authority in this story, but had to take charge in a complex case with corruption and incompetence in the SFPD.
as usual, the ending is thrilling, pulling the multiple themes together. The various settings in San Francisco are well documented and life like, as I lived in or near the city for 20 years .
this audiobook is a must have for your collection.
"Excellent Hospital Crime Drama in San Francisco"
If you enjoy the Dismas Hardy series, I would definitely recommend this audio book
Oath starts out a little slow but often this is necessary, to set the various scenes.
I enjoyed this audio book and once i got to part 2, I could not stop listening
I thought the Hospital CEO , who was corrupt , was fascinating.
