Lifelong friends, they went their separate ways. Now they are together again, though each holds secrets from the others in his heart. They speak of a world shadowed with rumors of war. They speak of tales of strange monsters, creatures of myth, creatures of legend. They do not speak of their secrets. Not then. Not until a chance encounter with a beautiful, sorrowful woman, who bears a magical crystal staff, draws the companions deeper into the shadows, forever changing their lives and shaping the fate of the world.

    Story
Is there anything you would change about this book?

The storyteller really should work on sounding more like he his telling a story rather than reading it. Perhaps reading it ahead of time and familiarizing himself with it first.

What did you like best about this story?

I love this story. Read it years ago and was looking forward to the audio version. I heard the original audio read by another person and it was very well done.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Read unenthusiastically and with little differential in voices.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

    Yes.

    Any additional comments?

One of my favorite sagas and it’s read as if the storyteller really had no clue what he was reading. There is a total lack of enthusiasm and character voices all pretty much sound the same. Of course, the story is still one of my favorites in the Forgotten Realms series, so I’ll keep it. It’s just unfortunate the narrator read it so unenthusiastically.
