"Absolutely Excellent"
Better than the first Gray Man novel. I went in this morning to try to find another but for now there are only the two. Excellent books but liked this one best. I am hoping there are more to come. I will definitely buy another Gray Man novel. The narrator is good also. The author needs to continue with this narrator, the reading is very well done. I will definitely buy the next one and hope there is a next one, if it's a dud, I may stop there but hoping there are more with good plots such as these. I also appreciate the length of a book. Detail is most important in mystery thrillers. I hate short books and will never ever buy an abridged version of a book. Abridged versions are for those with the attention span of a 3rd grader.
"NOT James Patterson"
I made a big mistake here and did not read the synopsis of this book. I"ve never read anything by James Patterson that I didn't like, particularly his Alex Cross books. He has given me much pleasure of reading in the past. Not so with this book. It is a Sci Fi mystery. I finished it only because I always feel the need to do that but I did not like it. I do not read Sci Fi and never will. Those that are fans of Sci Fi will probably like this. I did not. I like things realistic to today and not a hundred years from now. If you like all of the things James Patterson has done in the past, then do not buy it. It was totally disappointing and should have known better when paired with another writer. Stay with what you are good at, James. This is not you and certainly is not me.
"I'd Forgotten How Good This Is"
I read this book back in high school in the early 60's. The narrator bothered me at first but he got better as the book progressed. Dog and animal lover that I am, parts of it made me cry, literally. It's an excellent classic book. I'm glad I purchased it and may read it again sometime. It's excellent but some things hard to listen to for those of us who never in a thousand years mistreat a dog. If you are a dog or animal lover, buy the book. I never read books that are only 3+ hours long but this is an exception to that. Well done. I will probably read it again sometime. You won't be sorry you bought it.This book is a long time classic and worth reading.
"Incredible"
I have probably listened to 300 books in the last couple of years or so. I've read many great ones but this book is probably the single most incredibly real and best book I have ever listened to. The reality and possibility of it are very real and believable. I cannot say enough great things about this book. In the beginning I thought the narrator was a bit bland but that soon changes. As time passes the narrator really does do an incredible job. In fact I hope he does others for this same author. You will not be able to put this down. It's a good thing I use an iPod. If I listened in my car I would have been driving until the gas tank was empty. I will definitely read this book again in the future. The ending indicates a possible follow up book but don't know if this author can follow this easily. It is truly astounding and the characters are very real and human with strengths and frailties. Buy it and get into it as quickly as you can.
"Much More Than Expected"
I bought this book because of the reviews and also the fact that I like medical TV shows also in many years past as new ones come along. I love long books. Detail is best for me in any book as well as good character development. This books gives all. It is quite different for any other type of book I listen to and if this writer decides to write another, I will deffinitely read it. It took me about three hours to get into the book. Go to Google to read the biography and website of this author. An incredible doctor and author. I will read this again someday.
"Best Western Ever"
I truly enjoyed this book. It was definitely his finest hour. I've read most of his books but this one was extra special and a longer book which I dearly love. Louie L'Amour was born in 1908 and died of pneumonia in 1988. According the publish date, he wrote it at about age 75. Absolutely excellent book and the narrator was good also. I will deginitely read this one again sometime. He and Zane Grey were definitely the epitome of our western culture of long ago. You won't be sorry you listened to this book.
"Boring"
I've never read anything of Griffin's that I didn't like. He's an excellent writer. This was written 23 years ago and I did not like it. I don't like the narrator either. I also bought the second book in the series and if it's as bad as this one I will never order the others. I was looking forward to another good series by Griffin but this falls far short of that. Lousy character development which Griffin normally does very well. Very disappointed.
"Excellent Book"
I have avoided this book in the past because the only version available on Audible was the abridged version. Abridged version are only for those who have an attention span of a third grader. I will never understand how you can take a great 14 or 15 hour book and hack it to less than half it's original length. Murder mysteries are great because of their detail. I love the Mitch Rapp books and this one is very good also. I loved it. George Guidall "is" Mitch Rapp. He's read all of them to us. This is a scary book and has an element of "could happen" which makes it even better. I have loved every Mitch Rapp book that Vince Flynn turns out. Just wish he would stop doing the abridged stuff. Abridged books are worthless. I like the detail. That's what makes a book exceptional for me. I am glad I waited until Flynn's publisher finally got a clue and put the unabridged version on Audible. I will definitely read the whole series again sometime. There is another one out there that is also only in the abridged form (I forget the name of it). I will NOT buy that book until we get the whole thing on Audible.
I would definitely recommend this book along with all of his other in the unabridged version.
"Very Good Book"
I've always like Louie L'Amour. This book was quite different from the others. Too darn short but very different from many of his other books. Takes place in present day. I really liked it and usually will not buy a book this short but glad that I did. I will most likely listen to this one again and the narrator was very decent also. No complaints there. I would recommend it even though too short.
"Loved It But Wrong Narrator"
I've read the entire now 6 in this series of The Presidential Agent. I've loved every minute of every one. The stories could not be better. This is the only one not read by Dick Hill for which I was very disappointed. He has brought all of the main characters to this book alive in past years. He is a master of dialects and voices. It took me a couple of hours to get used to the new narrator but still an excellent book in this seriies. I now have to wait another year for the next one. This series is one of my favorites. I'm not going to pretend to be a book critic. I just love the characters and each of the plots but will say that they are much better read in the order written. Go to Griffins website to get that information. I have even read the previous ones twice this last year in preparation for the new one. They are worth a do-over. I've read all of Griffins books now but the Presidential Agent series is my favorite.
