This is one of the best combinations of story and performance I have heard. Southern suduction is sooooo slow to develop it seems like a story told on the porch on a hot summer day when even cold lemonade only cools the storyteller, but doesn't speed up the telling.

When we find out the difference between the member of the wedding's wish and reality and the consiquences of that truth.

You can't fix the characters anymore than they can fix each other. Though they do try.

Get comfortable, keep listening.

Mrs. Kennedy spoke with clarity, wit and candor about an era past. I found this inside point of view facinating. It was impossible to hear her without seeing her having the conversations in my mind. Clinking of ice in glasses and lighting of cigaretts were time marks of this period. Utterly charming.

Talking about being called back to the whitehouse during the bay of pigs so the family could be with Jack and if it came to it, die together, as a family.

Mrs. Kennedy's voice adds allure, strength, humor and surprize to the events she relates.

Impact, people and policies are all explored, fleshed out over time. It seems slightly shorter period than the actural history. Sure to change the way you look at the land.

It is hard to imagine a situation in which you can not excape getting dust in the lungs of children.

This is a compelling story that is emotionally rich, but experientially exhausting and surely I would have put this down long before I finished had the voice not continued to another dimension of the story.

You'll be surprized to find you don't actually have to shake dust off by the end..

Easier to get through than the book. Jucier than the movie "Julia and ..."

Julia, of course is the favorite. Too charming and straight forward to keep in France.

Enough like Julia's voice to be "authentic", but easier on the ear.

Cooking, swearing and laughting are three good courses. Makes it easier to understand and appreciate a good cook and a good cookbook.

Loved the way this character made me feel. It was as easy for me to be moved by Chance as it was for the other characters in his life to be moved by him. I like to listen was a perfect match for Chance's liking to watch..

This was a lot like "Running in the Rain." with Chance playing the dog.

Perfectly matter of fact. Depth with little emotional tone is not easy, I would think, unless you get Chance. Clearly Mr Hoffman does.

Chance would be a good companion at any dinner...though I would prefer we didn't eat with my family. Maybe dinner with Gov. Perry would be interesting to watch.

Relax into learing abour yourself and life, green thumb not necessary.

Knowing this was not going to end well did not stop me from listening to this anymore than any pair in adulterous love affair was ever stoped. This is an old story, twisted and dramatically emotional. All the spousal killers amoung us should take heed. Karma at it's best.

I have stayed away from Zola for years despite many fitfull starts, because the "slow build up" kills a slow reader like myself. I never got to the good stuff. This ebbed and flowed and built like a tide in which the characters slowly rose to my neck. If you want Zola I highly recommend this as the was to go....However, tortured love is still like watching his characters bleed to death in a hot tub after slashing their wrists.

Hands down the best performance I have heard. Voice changes so effectively convey mood, change of character,s and atmosphere that I was entralled.

Definately, affairs are endlessly destructive and facinating. You never learn it all. This is an excellent primer of what "could, and probably will" happen to the involved parties. Graham has asubtle way of involving everyone. He brings such an emotional impact the life's mundane details. Colin Firth was a perfect choice.

The everyday folk get so embroiled as the affair progresses. Amazingly emotional impact from his description of planning to be with and obsessing about your lover.

Confrontation with the priest...Who hasn't wanted to do that?

An older author so worth the time. A classic tale timeless and so well read.

Brutal and romantic don't often appear in the same sentence describing a very unexpected storyline. Here they do. Hauntingly worth the experience.

The complexities in personalities and relationships was compelling, occasionally overwhelming.

Such vivid imagery carried me emotionally throughout...such yearning, despair, disgust, loyality is reminicent of Carson McCullers, Graham Greene.

Richard Burton's voice is perfect for the Mariner. Lyrical and horrific at once.

The weight of the consiquences of the Mariners actions are clearly agonizing. Burton draws out each painful regret.
