did not like story of cake made from ... you know what... i understand it is big part of the book, but it is really disgusting, and it ruined my impression from the book ,,, absolutely love Jenna Lamia as a narrator, best woman narrator I have ever heard here, on Audible

Very nice written and narrated book. Little bit of history behind some famous movies, little bit of unknown details about life of famous people, all good stuff, a lot of humor. And It made me go back in time and watch all movies of Brat Pack again, and fall in love with 70-80ties all over again. Great actor, and great book.

Well, I don't mind to read about yoga, and even about motherhood. Also, the author is a pretty good writer. Narrator is awful, very annoying... Plus, book is about nothing, literally. Why would you write book about your life, if nothing interesting happened in your life. So, it was plain boring to read book about a woman, I don't know, and even after reading did not find out anything special about this woman and her life. I think, if I write book about my life, it would much more intersting :-))

sad and awesome.. I liked it so much, I wrote essay about it for my school. Book is very different from the movie. So, in my perception, Forrest Gump in the movie represents the best of American character. Forrest Gump in the book is more of an earthy but really fictional character with fantastically good fortune and some unrealistic events in his life. He is travelling in space, for example, or saving life of Mao Zedong. It's written as an autobiography of Forrest Gump that is funny and sad in the same time due to how country and society are acknowledged through mind of autistic person. The book is much deeper and very much politically incorrect to compare to the film. The book is full of satire and sarcasm toward American bureaucracy, schools, police, army, politicians; but all of it presented in the sort of “why is that?” way, not as a straight criticism of the government or society. Sometimes it is difficult to distinguish the reasons behind the things and events that happened to Forrest; because he is an idiot or because there is too much idiocy around him. But there is no manifestation of right or wrong way to be, to do, or to live in this book. His overall positive outlook and good nature, stubbornness and desire to work hard for his goals made him eventually successful and accomplished, even though he left his business, never married Jenny (she did not die like in the movie), and still travelling around the country with Lt. Dan. In my opinion, this book belongs to classical collection of the best American books and comparable with adventures of Tom Sawyer or Gulliver. You may read this book over and over and find something new, different, nostalgic or thrilling, new funny, again and again… Also, Raquel Welch must be amused with this book (read it and you will find out why... funniest part of the book). Narrator is great too..

Worst memoir ever, very disappointing… I like All My Children and have watched it for years, and I was expecting to hear about some insights of the show: stories behind the scenes, some history of it, because Susan Lucci is a veteran of the show. I wasn’t looking for gossips or dirty laundry, but I was not expecting it to be that boring, cheesy, soapy, and non confrontational. Everyone is great, except maybe “poor” Carrie Ann Inaba . SL is not only a bad actress, and a bad dancer, but she is a bad writer as well – this is my impression after finishing the listening of this book. Plus, I was very annoyed by how SL is jumping constantly from 70ties and 80ties to now times and back; whole book like this, constant flashbacks, no chronological order in it at all, no rules, no logic, very difficult to keep track of events, and very uninteresting events. It is like family members after long time apart during family reunion would talk about everything and anything at same time. So weird, I am wondering if she used any editorial help during writing of this book, so unprofessional it seems. On top of it, she managed to advertise Youthful Essence microdermabrasion and Malibu pilates chair she is a spoke person for .. Gosh, give me a break!

I am in process of the listening (two thirds through and about to drop it) of this book; and I am very disappointed in it. The author is an obvious Clintons’ basher. She collected all possible and impossible gossips about Clintons and put them all together. I have read somewhere that she spent three years of her life on this book and conducted 160 interviews (I guess, with people who hate Clintons). Just one example: she blames Bill Clinton for being obsessed with politics; she gave example of one couple (the author does not provide names), visiting White house; and later these people complained that all Bill talked about during breakfast, was some current world politics’ issues. Poor guests did not know how to hold on conversation, because they did not know anything about these issues! Oh, maybe they should know something about politics when visiting White House?! After all, shouldn’t you be happy to have President, who is so much in his job that can’t stop thinking and talking about it? Bill Clinton’s era was the best time in my life, to say at least. He was an excellent President; very positive and very active. Young people need to read Wikipedia at least, to know what Bill Clinton has done for this country; all they know is about Lewinski, like no other Presidents in this country had mistresses. Please, give me a break! I feel deep sorry for the author, really. She spent so much time on something she so much hates. That’s probably why this book is so boring. From book it is obvious that she (the author) is a fan of Al Gore. Why, for god sake, doesn’t she write book about him, and have all available pleasure and enjoyment for herself and her readers. In my opinion, for writers books should be like babies, in order to create them you must love them.

I would say, it is most boring American novel I have ever read or listened. I am a Platinum member of Audible and have listened more over 40 books from them, and I love long and serious books. This is the worst one! Russia, Russians, and KGB displayed as a bunch of perverts and idiots. What a shame! It’s a beautiful country with great culture and great potential. They hire the best minds to serve in intelligence, with high requirements for moral qualities; same as here! For some reviewers it was hurtful to read about Reagan being insulted by the author. I feel same way about Russians shown as boors. I used to love Scott Brick, not anymore! He mispronounced all Russian, Spanish, Italian and other words and names. Accents are all same, and all wrong, awfully irritating! Russian is my language, but I could not understand what narrator was saying?! How difficult was it to find one poor Russian in this country to inquire and do it right? And how about all these factual mistakes? Washington didn't have a subway system in 1974 and I-95 did not exist in 1949! I guess, Robert Littell was not able to find this information in France either? “Thanks” to my American husband I made it to the end! In future we better stick with John Corey (by Nelson DeMIlle) and Mitch Rapp (by Vince Flynn). Merry Christmas to everyone!

The author is definitely a talented writer, but what he is writing about is disgusting for me to comprehend. I hate to read about human’s dirt. I understand it’s real and exist somewhere around me behind closed doors, but it makes me even more upset. I probably will finish to listen this book, just because I bought it and have a habit to finish books, but it is definitely not my “cup of tea”. Descriptions of nasty houses with cockroaches, ugly people with their relationships are so graphic (how I said, he is a talented writer) that it makes me nauseous all way through. It is not funny or hilarious reading, maybe only for people who get excited from this kind of distasteful dirt. I feel sorry for these people and the author, who did not resist to it, but accepted and became a part of this havoc of uncivilized existence.
