Daisy Flattery is a free spirit with a soft spot for strays and a weakness for a good story. Why else would she agree to the outrageous charade offered by her buttoned-down workaholic neighbor, Linc Blaise? The history professor needs to have a fiancée in order to capture his dream job, and Daisy is game to play the role. But something funny happens on their way to the altar that changes everything.

Is this the Perfect Romance Novel? Pretty damn close. The fact that this is a series just makes it even closer to perfect. The narration is excellent. Did I cry, you bet! Will I listen to this book over and over again trying to squeeze every last moment and second from it? Yes! So if you are a romantic and you have listened to the Audible sample narration and enjoyed it then don't wait one more second and download this book. And once you are done listening to it over and over again, then download the others in this series. I haven't purchased and listen to all of them yet, but have done so with 2 in the series and loved them just as well.

Jared Thomas has lived his whole life in the small mountain town of Coda, Colorado. He can't imagine living anywhere else. Unfortunately, the only other gay man in town is twice his age and used to be his teacher, so Jared is resigned to spending his life alone... until Matt Richards walks into his life, that is. Matt has just been hired by the Coda Police Department, and he and Jared immediately become friends. Matt claims he is straight, but for Jared, having a sexy friend like Matt is way too tempting.

Where does Promises rank among all the audiobooks you???ve listened to so far?

It is a five star story. I loved the twist and turns of this romance and it is not often I find a gay romance that I enjoy so much. I read a lot of straight romance because there is so much, but it is surely a nice to run upon a gay romance that is done so well without all the typical gay stereo types. There is sex in this story but the relationship is the main theme and it is hot.

Who was your favorite character and why?

This is told by the main character, Jarred who is gay, and out, but finds himself being challenged by this new love in ways he would never had imagined.

What about Mark L. Jones???s performance did you like?

Just a great narration. Easy to listen to and great in his intonation between each character.

If you could rename Promises, what would you call it?

Unexpected love. Well, not really since it is a romance novel. But the love the two character find together didn't come easy.

    Any additional comments?

I am hoping that Audible will have available more gay romance. This book is a prime example in the high quality of the new gay romance novels in the market now.

Kurt is a talented but emotionally damaged football player. Danny is a rising star on the gymnastics team, an outsider in a high school where the football team rules. But the two form an unlikely friendship, and when one member of the gym team is viciously assaulted by the quarterback and his cronies, Kurt rises to his defense and challenges the entrenched stereotypes of high-school sports. This is that rare book that authentically captures the voices, fierce loyalties, and harsh justice of teenage boys.

In one way I wish I had never listen to this book. It is extremely disturbing. On the other hand I do feel that it is a book worth listening to. This is about bullying. It is about jocks. It is about being vulnerable. I know only too well what this is like. Fortunately, the physical abuse that is portrayed here never happened to me is all I can say. Maybe I???m not the person to review this book, but I guess I want people to be aware that this is not a book for children or even young adults, I feel.

Quantum theory is weird. As Niels Bohr said, if you aren’t shocked by quantum theory, you don’t really understand it. For most people, quantum theory is synonymous with mysterious, impenetrable science. And in fact for many years it was equally baffling for scientists themselves. In this tour de force of science history, Manjit Kumar gives a dramatic and superbly written account of this fundamental scientific revolution.

I guess this reminded me of my younger years reading Sci-Fi books, where the major character was a young boy coming of age. It has to do with a wrong done to his parents that needs to be corrected. This is your basic Good vs. Evil story. But I liked all the characters and wanted to know what happened to them. I liked the high end techno stuff in the book, made it very up to date. Actually listen to the complete book in one day. That is another nice thing about it, the book is long. I wish there was more by this author on Audible.

A Study in Emerald draws listeners in through carefully revealed details as a consulting detective and his narrator friend solve the mystery of a murdered German noble. But with its subtle allusions and surprise ending, this mystery hints that the real fun in solving this case lies in imagining all the details that Gaiman doesn't reveal, and challenges listeners to be detectives themselves.

    Story

I did not know anything about the author, and I was doubtful if I would like this story, but it was free! It was breaking two of my rules, first the author was reading the story, and he was English, which general meant I would not be able to understand him easily and the second, my sacred love of Sherlock Holmes: do not even think of improving on this character's presences in my mind!

The author was just amazing! Proving to me my two rules to be ridiculous and left me wanting more! I have not purchased anymore of his works, but that is just because I want them all and have not figured out where to start yet. However, start I surely will.
