If you could sum up Raven Calls in three words, what would they be?

    Magic, fantasy and humor.

Would you be willing to try another book from C.E. Murphy? Why or why not?

Very good writing and imagination, but I have tired of werewolves.

    Which scene was your favorite?

I liked the fact that she was a true, blue American with credit card in hand.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I found her older male sidekick to be a nice change. He was my favorite character.

    Any additional comments?

Good book and good performance. Magic at its best.

In John Scalzi's re-imagining of H. Beam Piper's 1962 sci-fi classic Little Fuzzy, written with the full cooperation of the Piper Estate, Jack Holloway works alone for reasons he doesnt care to talk about. Hundreds of miles from ZaraCorps headquarters on planet, 178 light-years from the corporations headquarters on Earth, Jack is content as an independent contractor, prospecting and surveying at his own pace. As for his past, thats not up for discussion.

I loved this cute funny book. I don't mean cutsie, but seriously Cute! I like Jack and his hard baked attitude. I loved the dog. All the science fiction was well written and artfully explained so you could easily visualize it. With out giving anything away I adored the Fuzzy bi-peds. I didn't realize this was a remake. It was excellent redo. If you like science fiction, strange landscapes, a good no nonsense plot with lots of humor, get this book. I highly recommend it. Well worth your credit.

Enjoyed this storyline with Pendergast and Constance. Got to know her so much better. Also lots of twists and turns that need to be read to keep up with the series. I can't get used to the new reading for Pendergast. Miss Scott Brick, wish he would come back. I enjoyed this book. Would highly recommend it and feel it is a must read to keep up with the twists and turns. Well worth a credit.

Special Agent Pendergast arrives at an exclusive Colorado ski resort to rescue his protégée, Corrie Swanson, from serious trouble with the law. His sudden appearance coincides with the first attack of a murderous arsonist who - with brutal precision - begins burning down multimillion-dollar mansions with the families locked inside. After springing Corrie from jail, Pendergast learns she made a discovery while examining the bones of several miners who were killed 150 years earlier by a rogue grizzly bear.

I was really looking forward to this new book. I liked Cory and looked forward to her being in the main character story line. The authors fleshed her out nicely. She has come a long way from her first appearance as a rebellious yet very likable young girl who needed a mentor and protector. I liked her field of education and how she got out into the field of this storyline. I was very disappointed in the lack of southern reality of Pendergast's drawl. Rene does a good read, but I miss Scott so much. Pendergast just isn't the same. The mystery was good and was a surprise to me. I will look forward to the next book.

Prosecuting attorney in the Manson trial Vincent Bugliosi held a unique insider's position in one of the most baffling and horrifying cases of the 20th century: the cold-blooded Tate-LaBianca murders carried out by Charles Manson and four of his followers. What motivated Manson in his seemingly mindless selection of victims, and what was his hold over the young women who obeyed his orders? Now available for the first time in unabridged audio, the gripping story of this famous and haunting crime is brought to life by acclaimed narrator Scott Brick.

    Wonderful, fun, grand, NOPE!
Grim, strange, gory, devastating, intriguing, unbelievably well written, great research YEP!
It is HELTER SKELTER. One of the most bizarre incidents that I remember in my 68 years. I hesitated to listen to this book but my granddaughter had read it and asked my opinion in the Charles Manson time frame. I was amazed at how much I didn't know and how much of the little I knew was actually untrue. So I listened and learned.
Horrific happenings and seriously strange mentally deranged people. Buglosi and Gentry turned out an excellent account and book.
Of course Scott Brick is my Favorite Performer. I miss him as Pendergast.
I highly recommend this book. There is so much more to this terrible tragedy than just some bad people who killed some other people one night. The authors get into the minds of these monsters. I now feel like I can at least talk with some knowledge about this event, but how sad those times were in our history. Well worth a credit.

Billy Crystal is 65, and he's not happy about it. With his trademark wit and heart, he outlines the absurdities and challenges that come with growing old, from insomnia to memory loss to leaving dinners with half your meal on your shirt. In humorous chapters like ""Buying the Plot"" and ""Nodding Off,"" Crystal not only catalogues his physical gripes, but offers a road map to his 77 million fellow baby boomers who are arriving at this milestone age with him. He also looks back at the most powerful and memorable moments of his long and storied life, from entertaining his relatives as a kid in Long Beach, Long Island, and his years doing stand-up in the Village, up through his legendary stint at Saturday Night Live, When Harry Met Sally, and his long run as host of the Academy Awards. Listeners get a front-row seat to his one-day career with the New York Yankees (he was the first player to ever ""test positive for Maalox""), his love affair with Sophia Loren, and his enduring friendships with several of his idols, including Mickey Mantle and Muhammad Ali. He lends a light touch to more serious topics like religion (""the aging friends I know have turned to the Holy Trinity: Advil, bourbon, and Prozac""); grandparenting; and, of course, dentistry. As wise and poignant as they are funny, Crystal's reflections are an unforgettable look at an extraordinary life well lived.

Billy Crystal is a funny man with a lot of insight about life in the fast lane and the slowing down that comes with the detours age makes while on the super highway. Very funny man. Could have listened to him for a lot longer. Great performance. Puts into perspective the fact that we are all trying to find our keys at this stage in life and a good laugh at all the ticks and tocks of life's clock helps make things bearable. I enjoyed this listen and recommend it. Caution not for young ears, adult language. Well worth a credit.

Mattie convinces one-eyed "Rooster" Cogburn, the meanest U.S. marshal in the land, to ride along with her. In True Grit, we have a true American classic, as young Mattie, as vital as she is innocent, outdickers and outmaneuvers the hard-bitten men of the trail in a legend that will last through the ages.

Don't expect to think you know all about this because you saw both movies. Lots of new and interesting things about all the Characters. Charles Portis is a wonderful author and his way of getting into his characters is amazing. I liked Mattie more and Rooster less but that is because of Donna Tartt's excellent reading and the real shadings of these two characters. She is a grand performer with her voices on this project. I enjoyed this book and highly recommend it to all. Well worth a credit. Made your heart feel good.

The Secret Life Of Bees is one of the best books to come along in awhile. I especially liked the time period and the descriptions of life through out the era of the story. I felt caught up in the story. I couldn't turn it off. Storyline was so interesting. Timing of events as you learned them was terrific. Each character was plumped out and you felt like you knew them well by the end of the book. Hated to see this end. The performance was perfect. Jenna did a wonderful read. Sue Monk Kidd a superb author. I highly recommend this book. Good for all ages.
