Too slow for me. Didn't care for the reading by James Masters. It is the start of a series, will check out the next book at Goodwill.
Funny delightful mystery. Loved the plot and enjoyed the mystery too. Lots of well rounded interesting and fun to listen to characters. Well performed. Especially liked all the little tittle tattle references to historical figures in this English time frame like the infamous Mrs. Simpson. Look forward to my next book in this series. Worth a credit. Enjoy a listen, I did.
I like this book. The idea of going back in time is actually believable in this unusually well thought out plot. Love the interaction of the time displaced characters and the findings of other life and how different things are. Good explanation of the concept of how this could be taken into your mind and lived through. Quite a jolt to say the least. Keeps you on the edge of your seat at times and relaxed just listening other times. I recommend this book. Good listen.
This is my first Dixie Hemingway Mystery but it will not be my last! Since I live in Sarasota where the action takes place I felt right at home in the middle of all the scenes. Julia Gibson gave a great performance. Was a good mystery, written with good comical plot yet touches a lot of serious emotional avenues to cruise down with a great twist at the end. Loved Dixie's relationship with her animal characters and her devotion to seeing that they were well taken care of. All the characters were nicely fleshed out. I highly recommend this book and will let you know what I think of the next one. I have high hopes for this author. You go Blaize Clement!
Yes. Kept my interest and most of my friends already read Grisham. This was my initial taste. My appetite is whetted for more.
How the story stayed on track even with all the wonderful twists and turns.
His performance was very easy to listen to. Great Southern accents.
I highly recommend this book.
Dust is an exciting serial killer, medical examiner, extreme vicious villain, details of blood and gore crime scenes and lots of unhappy characters type of book. Terrible language but in context of these types of personalities. The medical examiner information is detailed and obviously well researched. My favorite character is her rescue greyhound. At least he has a happy life which is more than I can say for anyone else in the book.
Where have I been? This took me by surprise. Explode nuclear bombs 200 miles above the atmosphere and then wait. Wow! Great book. If you don't want to be shocked stay away from this one. I recommend having tissues handy if you do listen to it. I couldn't turn it off even though there were times I would have liked too. This is the best of the END TIMES books. It still sends shivers down my spine. If you read Alas Babylon, The Beach or The Devils Hammer and were fascinated, it is a must read!
Pendergast brought back to life. Excellent read. I feel like all the questions are answered in this book. I need to read a book I have missed and reread several I didn't take my time with. As usual the plot explanations are very elastic, but a stretch worth taking. I am looking forward to enjoying more of the Pendergast Series. I do wish Pendergast sounded a tad more Southern, but the performance is exceedingly well read. I could wish for less coarse language keeping in mind cursing shows a lack of vocabulary and imagination. Know, however this isn't true of these authors and that it seems to be expected by newer readers. I think this book really ties up any loose ends and gets us ready to continue on the journey. I would go so far as to say it is a MUST READ!
Great listen! Preston & Childs made me feel like an invisible part of each Chapter. I finally understand the feelings of both brothers from their early years. So much history in the Pendergast line. I listened to this out of sequence, but, is a great performance by itself and talk about a "cliff hanger!" WOW! Plot was excellent. Lots of tense moments. If you are good at figuring out who is who I think this one might surprise you and I didn't figure out the mysterious "who" that we all were looking for. Good writing. The museum/temple scene is a real nail bitter. I highly recommend this intense listen to everyone, especially for any of us Pendergast "groupies"
Enjoyable quick listen. Thanks Audible! I love the fact that I can get so many previews and an idea of the authors by making a through search of FREE and cheap books on the search engine. Many times I only want something quick to listen to and Audible has the answer for a doctor visit, pre sleeping, folding the wash, etc. you can almost always learn something. Again, this was a short enjoyable listen.
Great read! Best book in this End Times category for me. My husband and I listened to this together and we live 60 miles from Tampa and 115 miles from Orlando so it really made us think . This actually is a book that everyone should either read or listen to. The writing is great. He makes you feel like you are right there in the picture all the time. He also gets you to understand the characters and their feelings. That isn't easy to do unless you are a great writer. This book stays with you. Glad that it is great fiction and not true facts. Hurray for Pat Frank. Will read anything he decides to write. He is like John D MacDonald on steroids and I LOVE John D. I highly recommend this audiobook. Buy it and I guarantee you will get knots in your tummy and sit on the edge of your seat!
