Loved the story and narration - very good book.
Tana French is a terrific writer! The narrator was great except I did not like his portrayal of the main character's sister - other than that, excellent narration.
Depends on the person; this is a book for is for young adults, which I did not realize. It was a good story with a very interesting premise. I liked beginning and the ending, however, often I was bored during the main story; the narration is pretty good, which made it easier to get through. That being said, towards the end there was finally some terrific dialogue that made me laugh, smile and even cry. Keep in mind, I am 50 years old, so for a teen or very young adult, this may be a terrific read.
Yes, it would be a good movie.
LOVED IT - unique story line - super interesting. I love the Harry Hole series, but Nesbo's stand alone novels are unbeatable!
The narration was a bit stilted in parts - but great in other parts - that was the only part of the audio I did not love.
The narrator was great.
Hmm, it was a very unique story. It is pretty hard to compare this to any other novel I have read . . .
The lovely accents.
The beauty, horror and humanity of life.
Unusual Suspenseful Clever
He reads a Grisham book like no other. Not to fast, not too slow and a very believable accent. I could listen to him for hours.
I love Grisham, but I started to feel like his story lines were getting a little flat - endings have been a little dull and anti-climatic in his later works. This one ROCKED - he killed it and I cried at the end - which I never recall doing before reading his books. LOVED IT.
Unique & Thought Provoking
Dan - he is complex and let's face it - he's the kid from the Shining ;-)
Rose the Hat
A sequel for such a block-buster iconic hit such as the "Shining" was a big risk, but one I am glad Stephen King took! I really like this book and did not want it to end. I almost did not read it but I am so glad I did! Stephen King fans will not be disappointed
No - it seemed more for young adults. Nothing much happens. The narration was really good so it was an okay listen, but I would never recommend this book. It was interesting to find that the author is actually a woman, and that her middle name is "Curtis" after her mother's surname - and that she went to Prep school at the same age as the main character in this book.
Yes, because I loved her book "Sisterland"
She is a terrific narrator for a young voice.
She is a really good narrator, which made the book more appealing than it would have been otherwise.
This book was a nice distraction due to the excellent narration - easy listening if but a bit predictable. More of a "chick" book for sure.
I cannot tell if I would have liked the story had the narration been better. Some of her voices were okay, but it was dull, especially in-between the dialogue. I cannot put my finger on it - the voice was nice, but it was just so slow and kind of depressing. I am having a really hard time getting through it and probably will not finish it.
Yes - this was a great story - very different - hard to find unique plots like this one.
This was easy to get into but then there was a slight dragging - but it is well worth it - be patient - if this was a movie, I would say the editing is brilliant as there are no wasted words - everything means something and it all comes together. This book made me cry - which was very unexpected. It is thought provoking - a good one for book club discussion.
Refreshing, interesting, real
I love Tamara Lovatt-Smith's narration - it is hard to pick one character - she does a great job. I suppose Alice is my favorite character the way she portrayed it.
I found this author by a mistake - searching by narrator, Caroline Lee. I loved the first book I listened to - The Husband's Secret, and then I had to find more books by this author. I noticed the narrator was someone different that I had not heard before - and I was worried it would lessen my experience. Well, let me tell you, I am not spoiled rotten by Tarama Lovatt-Smith's narration style. She has a real talent. I did not want this or any other Liana Moriarty book to end. The characters and their thoughts are realistic. Her books would all be great for book club discussions.
