I have at least two copies of Remembrance of Things Past in my library. Some day, some day I was to read it. I have listened to this first section of Swann's Way, and now onto the 2nd "half." The author's insight is fascinating. There are moments that are positively electric, yet nothing is "happening." I cannot imagine a better performance.
I find that I have to take breaks and turn to other books after several hours (days) of listening. To think, I might have missed this classic.
I have been a fan and customer of the attaching company for years. I like this format better.
dr. Albala has a great command of history, and science. he is an expert guide to a world view of food throughout the ages. I enjoyed his lectures immensely.
My only complaint is that the chapters are not well separated as usual for the iPhone version.
I don't understand how one could ding the author himself on his reading. I have had the pleasure to be in the audience twice when R.B. was present. Once to discuss his life, and another at one of his plays. True, the reading is somewhat slow. I listened at 1 1/2 speed and is was quite good. At the end he has an excellent interview.
Very dated. Abridged. Love 1984 . Hated this. Couldn't even finish it.
Jonathan Cecil is miraculously good in this production. Very fine voicing. Hilarious writing. Holds up well over the years
Don't ignore this book because the movie was so bad. Very well narrated, nearly mystical with some overtones of Poe. Loved it.
People don't change. His persecutors could live today. I am not sure, however, that we have a Socrates.
Riveting, moving performances. Wonderful works performed by various groups. If you like theater, you will love these. So well done I feels like I was present at the performance.
Short enough to listen, but bordering on bizarre. Then again, I am not familiar with Scalzi.
What a great narrator. Made this excellent story come alive. Now enjoying Time Enough for Love, which he also narrated.
Very entertaining and very well read. Better than the dramatizations I've seen. Highly recommended.
