A fun and quirky listen. A decent in between book. The story has nice twists and turns. The characters are interesting. Like I said....not bad.
I really enjoyed this book. It was nice to follow the women in the story through their lifetime of friendship. They sure went through a lot together. I really enjoyed learning about the Chinese secret language of women. It seemed women had limited experiences then and it is great that they had this secret form of communication and a lifelong friend.
I bought this because it was on sale. I thought it was going to be kinda silly. It actually wasn't bad at all. It was a nice little thriller that kept my interest. A nice in between listen.
This story was not what I was expecting, but I still enjoyed it. The story kept me interested, and I like how it jumps back and forth between characters. It is a story of love, loss, and the reality of life. This story reminds us that we can't always have what we want, but we should be aware and grateful for what we do have while we still have it.
Nice twist on a fairy tale. Kept me interested all the way through. The narration was good and story flowed nicely.
This is a great light-hearted series! I totally recommend it any one who needs a little laugh and a bit of fun!
I picked up this book because it was on sale, and I am so glad that I did. I loved the light hearted and fun nature of it. I am now on book number six, and looking forward to book number seven. This is a great in between easy listen book. You'll find yourself laughing a bit if you decide to listen. Highly recommend it!
This book turned out to be much better than I thought. It was a good fun story. I found myself laughing out loud quite a few times while listening to this. This is the perfect light read.
I really enjoyed "Shanghai Girls" and this was a great ending to a great story. The characters come full circle in this book. The story also gives a vivid look at the beginnings of communist China. Beautiful story of the relationships between mothers and daughters, fathers and daughters, great loves, lost loves, and new loves.
This was a well written story of the true bond between sisters. The sisters faced a lot of struggles together and both dealt with them in different ways, but they supported each other. I also really like the fact that the story gives a sense of what life was like in China during the war and what life was like for Chinese immigrants. It is interesting how you start off thinking that only one of the characters is the strong sister, and then in the end you realize that they were both strong in very different ways. The narrator did a wonderful job. She really did a great job portraying each character. I am looking forward to listening to "Dreams of Joy".
