Something was lost in the translation. This book just never took off. I finally decided to just stop torturing myself. I have listened to some really good books. This is not one of them.
This is the 2nd book by Laura Kinsale that I have read. She doesn't write the standard love story. I liked it to the very end. It is a great read.
At first I thought it was dull, but it was just opening like a flower. I didn't want it to end. It is worth the read. Treat your self.
It has a collection of characters that just seem to be perfect together on a ranch. Everyone has a job and love is the resounding message. I laughed a lot.
What a great story. I had pushed this one around like a kid with peas on their plate, but I was so wrong. I couldn't put it down and I loved that she was of Spanish decent. The narrator was perfect and took me right along side to see every move and twist.
The beginning to the end was really good. Jenna is amazing. The 2 characters she chooses to help her are perfect. I learned so much about elephants and even that was so right. Read this one. It is worth it.
The details leads you to think it is about some property and all the family. BUT it is really about a man who has 2 daughters and his wife has been in an accident. There is a smaller character who is like a fly in the ointment to the man.. The end brought it all back full circle. I would tell some one else about this book, with a little disclaimer about it. It does have the property coursing through it.
The story went along fine until about an hour to the end. The narrator, Catherine Taber, was just flat. No emotion, even when one of the characters took her up in a small plane and let her fly it. She was just flat. She read well. The story only went so far and then it too went flat. I was overall disappointed. I have only been an audible listener for about 2 years and this is my 1st review of this sort.
This book held my attention well. There are human struggles that we all go through. I found wisdom in the honesty on the pages. .
So good. I loved every minute of this one and It would not be the same without getting to listen. I was right there. Katherine Kellgren was just excellent. I was so caught up in the story, L. A. Meyer is a great story teller. I would lover to listen to this one again.
