Yes, because the author is reading it and puts her special knowledge of each character in to her narration.
Ave Maria because she is not perfect and she is ok with that! She is also willing to change.
This is a coming of age story about a 35 year old town pharmacist who has never been married. This book is so much fun! It takes place in the south with all the traditions, twang and hilarity that comes with it. You can actually envision the big hair on these ladies that we come to love. There are so many fabulous one liners it would take forever to write them all down. I found myself laughing out loud through the entire book. Not the epic masterpiece of The Shoemakers Wife but it is a wonderful, heart warming, great characters kind of book. Perfect for any time of the year!
The story was well written, not what I expected but this is my first book by this author. Not sure I would read another by her but this one was good enough to finish. I did not have a negative opinion of Judith Light like so many others did. I thought all 3 narrators were very well done and fit the roll for which they were reading.
No because I listen to books when I run. If I already know the story I wont be motivated to get out and run as often.
Yes to people to like the past and present style
No, but I thought she did an excellent job considering how many voices she has to do
Some was predictable and some was a surprise, but I like this author so know what to expect. I did get a little tearful at the end, even though it was a bit contrived, I really enjoy this story.
Probably. I loved the way they had two narrators for the two main characters. The story was extraordinarily beautiful.
The Help. The Invention of Wings shows the horrors of slave ownership and the indomitable spirit of the black slaves. Plus the fearless support of the white women's campaign to end slavery and the men who supported/helped them.
There were two voices. One "white" one "black"
I would not rename it.
This one is not Ms Kearsley's best. The Winter Sea was my favorite, but I have enjoyed The Rose Garden and The Firebird as well. This book was originally published in 1996 which explains why I was so disappointed. I did not find out it's original publication date until after I finished the book. Good enough to finish.
Sue Monk Kidd's The Invention of Wings
Very well done!!!
Very good reader. Sort of a combination of the Car Talk men and Columbo
This isn't the best written book, but it is so funny and nice mystery with a twist. Just a lot of fun!
Honest, funny and redeeming
Iva Lou a true friend
She reads with inflections that I wouldn't get reading it myself - which adds
to the real feeling behind the characters
I laughed through out the entire book!!!! I got choked up when Jack
and Ave renewed their love
Can't wait for book three!
