John works in his family's mortuary and has an obsession with serial killers. He wants to be a good person but fears he is a sociopath, and for years he has suppressed his dark side through a strict system of rules designed to mimic "normal" behavior. Then a demon begins stalking his small town and killing people one by one, and John is forced to give in to his darker nature in order to save them.

    G. Mott says: "Great, if visceral book, terrible narrator."
    "good story - painful narration"
    Overall

This story was great, however the narration was absolutely painful. The main character is supposed to be a young teenager, freshman in high school young, and the narrator sounds about fifty. Another reviewer likened him to Robert Stack, and I whole heartedly concur with that comparasion. I really wish I had merely read the book and not listened to the audio version. But the story is still great.

When an unspeakable tragedy befalls a family of traveling minstrels, they become stranded and left for dead. Here in the heart of The Black Forest, Peter Piper and his older brother Max encounter ominous forces that will change them both irreparably. Thus begins an epic tale of sibling rivalry, magic, music and revenge that spans medieval times to the present day when their deadly conflict surfaces in the placid calm of modern-day Fabletown.

This is one of the best audiobooks I have ever listened to. I love how Wil Wheaton brings the world of Fables to life. The story is engaging and exciting. Well worth the credit.

One woman's story as she blogs about - and fights back against - the zombie apocalypse.

Allison Hewitt and her five colleagues at the Brooks and Peabody Bookstore are trapped together when the zombie outbreak hits. Allison reaches out for help through her blog, writing on her laptop. It may also be her only chance to reach her mother. But as the reality of their situation sinks in, Allison's blog becomes a harrowing account of her edge-of-the-seat adventures.

Easily one of the best "zombie" books I've listened to. You get invested in the characters quickly. Maybe it's because I used to work in a bookstore and could almost see where Allison was originally trapped, but the detailed descriptions allowed me to visualize the story being played out. Truly enjoyable.

"Taylor is the name. John Taylor...My card says I'm a detective, but what I really am is an expert on finding things. It's part of the Gift I was born with as a child of the Nightside - the hidden heart of London where it's always three a.m., where inhuman creatures and otherworldly gods walk side-by-side in the endless darkness of the soul. Assignment: Joanna Barrett hires me to track down her teenage daughter, who decided to forgo the circus and run away to the Nightside."

The Simon R. Green "Nightside" books are some of my favorites, so I was extremely excited to see that audiobooks were made of them. Marc Vietor is delicious as the uber cool John Taylor. A little Sam Spade, a little Harry Dresden: John Taylor is London's most magical detective. This first book is a great intoduction into the Nightside and the subsequent books delve deeper into the mystery that is John's past. I highly recommend all of these books as they are fun and exciting. Who wouldn't want to take a walk in the "Nightside"?

About three things I was certain. First, Edward was a vampire. Second, there was a part of him, and I didn't know how dominant that part might be, that thirsted for my blood. And third, I was unconditionally and irrevocably in love with him.

I loved this book, as it truly transends the "teen" genre, and the audio was brilliant. Iliana Kudushin was a wonderful narrator, giving a richness to the characters that was just as fufilling as the reading the book itself. Excellent.
