When the body of a young woman is discovered deep beneath the icy waters of Lake Grant, a note left under a rock by the shore points to suicide. But within minutes, it becomes clear that this is no suicide. It's a brutal, cold-blooded murder. All too soon former Grant County medical examiner Sara Linton - home for Thanksgiving after a long absence - finds herself unwittingly drawn into the case.

I finished this book.......but just barely! My absolutely largest complaint was the constant laughs performed by the narrator. I found them completely distracting.
The story line was OK, but character development left a lot to be desired. Character voice differentiation was poor. I frequently had to rewind to determine who was speaking.

I really expected to like this book........but I didn't. The daughter really annoyed me. Even accounting for the circumstances, she acted like no 8-year-old I've ever known! I know there are violent people in this world, but the actions of some of the characters in this book strained my imagination. The hero was transformed from a middle-of-the-road substantial citizen to a violent-beyond-belief character in the blink of an eye.

Didn't even listen to the last three or four hours. I know how it ends because I fell asleet while it was playing and heard the end...........but I just wasn't interested enough to go back and find out what happened in between.

Thoroughly enjoyed the pair-up of Joanna Brady and J.P. Beaumont. I feel that this was one of the best J A Jance books and I have read a great many of them. I did have a problem with the dual narrators, though. Some of the voices were excellent and others were like chalk on a blackboard.

More than a million listeners have thrilled to Bill O'Reilly's Killing Lincoln, the can't-stop-listening work of nonfiction about the shocking assassination that changed the course of American history. Now the anchor of The O'Reilly Factor recounts in gripping detail the brutal murder of John Fitzgerald Kennedy—and how a sequence of gunshots on a Dallas afternoon not only killed a beloved president but also sent the nation into the cataclysmic division of the Vietnam War and its culture-changing aftermath.

Judge Daniel Brennan is only days away from achieving a seat on the Second Circuit Court of Appeals bench when he's brutally stabbed to death in his garage. An army of media and law enforcement descend on the case, and thousands of tips pour in from the public. When one tip leads New Jersey policeman Luke Somers to Steven Gallagher, things quickly go wrong, but Luke is instantly glorified for solving the case. But to one man, Luke is no hero. Chris Gallagher raised his brother, Steven, almost single-handedly, and, certain that Steven is innocent, he won't rest until he sets the record straight.

David Rosenfelt should stick with the Andy Carpenter stories.........which are super!! I have read every single one. However, this book was hard to follow, hard to believe.............and totally missing the Rosenfelt humor found in the Carpenter books.

In the compelling conclusion to the New York Times best-seller Her Mother’s Hope, Christy Award-winning author Francine Rivers explores the sorrow that can tear families apart and the grace that can heal the deepest wounds. Just as Carolyn had formed a stronger bond with her Oma Marta than with her mother, so Carolyn’s daughter is drawn to her grandma more than to a mom who’s caught up in the 1960s counterculture....

I willingly gave 5 stars to Her Mother's Hope. I thought it was an excellent book and I thoroughly enjoyed every bit of it. I enjoyed Her Daughter's Dream almost as much except that they ratcheted up the religious references three or four notches and it was just too preachy.

I had no problem with the scriptural references in the earlier book.......they added to the story line. But I felt they were over the top in the second book and I only gave it four stars. Still a great read and an excellent narrator.

Internationally best-selling author Francine Rivers—winner of a Christy Award and the ECPA Gold Medallion—crafts a riveting tale of mother/daughter bonds stretching across decades. Strong-willed Marta leaves Switzerland early in the 20th century and settles in California. Though Marta loves her eldest daughter Hildie, they often clash as they attempt to find their places in the world.

An absolutely delightful book. Heard it in just a few days even though it is over 15 hours. The narrator was superb and the characters were unforgettable. I couldn't wait for my next credit so that I could order the sequel, Her Daughter's Dream, which I just started.

If there was anything I felt negative about in this book it was the "tough love" that Marta showed toward her daughter, Hildie. As a mother, I did feel that this was a bit extreme and unrealistic. But this one little thing did not keep me from thoroughly enjoying this book.

It is Nick and Amy Dunne's fifth wedding anniversary. Presents are being wrapped and reservations are being made when Nick's clever and beautiful wife disappears from their rented McMansion on the Mississippi River. Husband-of-the-Year Nick isn't doing himself any favors with cringe-worthy daydreams. Under mounting pressure from the police and the media - as well as Amy's fiercely doting parents - the town golden boy parades an endless series of lies, deceits, and inappropriate behavior. Nick is oddly evasive, and he's definitely bitter - but is he really a killer?

This is probably one of the most unusual books that I have ever listened to. Getting tired of dealing with serial killers and this one was a breath of fresh air. It's a long book and I was quite surprised at how quickly it slipped by. It's something different.........I recommend it.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book..........in fact when this one came out I went back and reread the first one before starting the second..........and was glad I did. The first one was just as enjoyable the second time around.

Do not understand all of the negative reviews from people who object to being left hanging at the end. The author stated from the start that this work was a series that would be produced over a period of years so if you don't like that format then don't buy the first one!!!

The reader was excellent...........there were just a few voices that grated on me (Alistair!) but for the most part they were delightful.

Highly recommend these books to anyone who likes this genre.
