As an admirer of Winston Churchill, I have been waiting for the final volume of the Manchester series for many years. It is a shame that Manchester couldn't complete it himself but Paul Reid did an excellent job under the circumstances. Even for a history buff, however, this book is very long and very tedious in spots. It took me more than a week to complete it. I would only recommend it to a reader who is into history.
I wish I had read other reviews before buying this book. The ending was as stupid as any I have ever seen in a book. There is NO satisfaction from listening †o this book. I would not recommend it unless you are a serious Alex Cross fan. Even then, wait until the next one comes out so you will have an ending to this one.
I found the story contrived and unpleasant. Even worse, the narrator was awful. She had to yell all conversation by one character in order distinguish it from the main character. Unpleasant to listen to. Not up to Robb's previous work but after 36 its no wonder.
This might make a good short story but the story, to the extent there was a story, was endlessly stretched with gobs and gobs of minutia. In fact, there was so much filler that I completely lost interest in who did what to who. It reached the point that I was expecting the author to start describing each snowflake by size, shape, color, taste, and smell.
The story was somewhat interesting but not up to Stephen King's normal work. I was particularly pissed about King's inappropriate and dumb comment concerning Dick Cheney ... a true patriot ... unlike King. It didn't fit in the story at alI except to show Kings true colors. I normally don't read books by extreme liberals and will now add Stephen King to my NO READ LIST.
This was the worst Hiaasen book I have read. Totally uninteresting and unenjoyable. I would rate the book as DUMB.
Although unusual, I thought this book might have some interesting insights that would be useful in training my dog. it didn't.
Give a lot of insight into Eisenhower and his influence on the world. I recommend it.
The author made a good effort to integrate American history and a few cars. A good effort but not very interesting. A tough one to finish even for the car enthusiast.
One of his best books in years. I would highly recommend it to any Tom Clancy fans.
The information in this book could be a life saver for many people. It is well written and hopefully well researched. In any case, I am following the "wheatless" diet after reading the book.
