The story didn't get my heart racing, but it was a fun, easy read. It was about memories put in someone else's head and the trouble it caused and how the different personalities dealt with the problem. Not a 5 star for me because to get 5 it has to be one that I cannot put down, I'm 100% IN the story, and I make sure I haven't jacked-up the speed to pass over the slow parts, and I'm sad as I get closer to the end.
You need to know that I do very few reviews. I am no writer & despite the hundreds of books I read, I forget details quickly. Here goes.... My heart ached for these people & the characters part of me as I read all of the rich details. My reason for withholding from giving 5 stars is because my mind wandered toward the end. I felt like the last chapter was dragging, or perhaps the author didn't want the book to end. It could have been wrapped up without adding new situations at the end.
I came to know and care about the characters and their relationships. I loved the first book, really liked the second book, and only, kinda, sorta liked this third and last story. I gave it 4 stars because there were many shocking twists and turns as the District executed their plan to destroy the evil Capital and stop the Hunger Games. But it wasn't all good against evil because the methods used by the District to prepare and fight were many times dark and ugly, like a war without ethics, and it went on and on, over and over they conquered what the Capital threw at them. That was why it became tedious to me. It was like, "Take this! Take that! Take this! Take that!" All right already, can we move on?
The end finally came, bringing the original Hunger Games theme to fruition. The end included a good message, but it left me unfulfilled because those battling on the District's side were not pure and righteous, they too did things that would burn in their hearts forever. it was tragic and sad. I really wanted to feel happy and content when I finished this last book, but instead it left me restless.
I really enjoyed this book. It had suspense, likable and creepy characters, good relationships between the characters, including romance. There was plenty going on to keep my attention from beginning to end. I found myself reaching for my book a few minutes after putting it down. I just had to know who dun it!
