I switched to Amazon after they added Whispersync. I read and listen to most of the books I go through. I prefer to read but I spend 90 minutes a day in a car so I can get through a lot of audio.

Widely recognized as the master of the historical spy novel, New York Times best-selling author Alan Furst takes listeners back to the early days of World War II for a dramatic novel of intrigue and suspense.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Alan Furst kept coming up in my suggestions and finally decided to try one of his books. I would recommend this book to others and I will read additional Furst books.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

The plot was set in Soviet controlled Europe. This was the first book I have read from the view of a character in Soviet service. I really enjoyed the plot and different historical ties in the book.

In their vanguard is a horde of mythical Others, a supernatural army of the living dead whose animated corpses are unstoppable. As the future of the land hangs in the balance, no one will rest until the Seven Kingdoms have exploded in a veritable storm of swords.

I have really enjoyed this series. I typically cannot read multiple books in a series back to back without another book in between. I have read the first 3 in relatively quick succession and they have maintained my interest. The multiple story lines and character depth are excellent and keep my interest level. The narration is excellent.

1799. As the British Army fights its way through India toward a diabolical trap, the young and illiterate private Richard Sharpe must battle both man and beast behind enemy lines, in an attempt to push the ruthless Tippoo of Mysore from his throne and drive his French allies out of India.

    "Terrible Narrator"
    Overall

I have read/listened to several of Cornwell's books in the last year. I have really enjoyed them all so far...until this one. I can't get past the narration in this book. I have had a few other books where it took a little to get used to the narrator's voice. I can't quite define what it is about the narrator, but I can't listen for more than about 5 minutes. I will purchase a copy I can read because I'm sure the story is as good as his other books.

Why we think it’s a great listen: If you’ve ever loved a dog - or even patted a dog - this book, told from the perspective of man’s best friend, will tug at your heartstrings...and won’t let go until long after Welch performs the last word. Enzo knows he is different from other dogs: a philosopher with a nearly human soul (and an obsession with opposable thumbs), he has educated himself by watching television extensively and by listening very closely to the words of his master.

This was a book I hated enjoying (if that make any sense). There were pieces of it that I hated listening too but I kept going because I was hooked on the story. To be honest, I wasn't expecting such an emotionally engaging book based on a dog's perspective. That skewed my view a little towards the negative side because I was expecting a light hearted easy listen. Overall, I enjoyed the book and I would recommend it.
