enjoyable, fun, memorable

sparhawk ... i've always felt an affinity for him growing up as a kid ... i wanted to be a hero just like sparhawk and i think some of that fascination with him has held up over the years ...

the narrator made the main character, sparhawk--whom i've always assumed was gruff and swarthy--sound like a bad impression of keanu reeves from "point break" ... i kept waiting for sparhawk to whip out a surfboard halfway through the story ...

sometimes i groaned loudly in dismay when the narrator made one of my favorite characters growing up sound like a braindead & weak surfer dude ...

perhaps the narrators should read the book first themselves to get an idea of what type of person certain characters are (at the VERY least the main character) ... the narrator made sparhawk sound weak and unintelligent ... *gameshow buzzer*

terrifying, gripping, amazing

steven weber, in my opinion, is one of THE best narrators that i've ever had the pleasure of listening to. his timing is perfect and it feels as though he is actually there, experiencing the events as they unfold and he reads with such emotion and raw energy that you can't help but get caught up in the story and i found my heart hammering quite heavily at times as the wonderful weber brought the story, and the terror, to life.

i've read quite a few stephen king books, but i wouldn't classify myself as a stephen king fan; however, i do remember reading this book as a child and being terrified of it (and now clowns as a result!). the movie, while fun and somewhat scary, didn't really portray the terror the kids faced as well as the book does and i feel that this audiobook, read by the amazing steven weber, is what the movie could/should have been. i highly recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of stephen king as this is certainly one of this best novels ever.
