I wanted to read this book before seeing the movie. I thought the subject matter was very interesting. Even though it was a sad, depressing story, I would have found it enjoyable had I read it instead of listening. The narrator was the most boring narrator I've ever encountered. I felt like she was reading me a bedtime story. Absolutely no enthusiasm in her voice. No inflection. No umph!! It was painful to listen to her especially since I'm accustomed to the lively, animated voices of other books I've listened to lately. I would definitely encourage you to read this one - don't listen!!!
Yes, I'd try another book from this authors.
This book was entertaining but in no way should it be compared to "The Help". It caught my attention but it wasn't a book I couldn't stop listening to. I gave it three stars because it was just alright. This is the first time I ever wrote a review and I am doing so because I was duped into listening and perhaps I can save someone else the $$$ or a credit.
Keep your interest from the opening page to the end. A great insight into the lives of the ruthless and the poor. Good read
real life view into out perceiption of a perfect marriage, What we learn is that this union is far from perfect and i fact there is not true dialogue going on between our heroimes of the story
