"SH is timelesss!"
The performance of the pure literature of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and not an adaptation.
Story accuracy and attention to the original words used by the author.
No real selection!
I am not sure if I would like to really meet Sherlock Holmes! He is a very arogant individual, but genuinely smart people ar e, generally, arrogany.
"Underwhelming"
I have always been told that Zane Grey wrote the best westerns of this or anytime. I have read 3/4 of his books and listened to this one and am underwhelmed by the contrived and predicatble plots and story line. I have no problem with the telling of the story on this Audible book. In all honesty all westerns in this genre are predicatble- comboy rides into a hostile environment, always involving an attractive young woman, bad guys cause trouble for all the 'ggod guys' and the hero saves tha day, often single handedly.. I have read more than 20 of Louis La'More's books and most of them fall under the contrived and predictable comment.
The story detail was not great, but okay.
The telling of the story was good.
Comparing a book to the same presentation in a movie is tough! A well written script and acceptable 'stars' can elevate a mediocre book to a good movie and sometimes to a great movie.
"Living History"
The detail provided was/is great. I enjoyed the intricacies of the story, down to the melas and copnversations. This well researched story and delivery was very good....
The main character Simon Kenton added continuity to the story and numerous characters.
I am not sure...
The story was very good and kept my interest all the way through. I particylarly enjoy historical fiction and non-fiction.
"Great historical fiction!"
The interwoven people and their own '6 degrees of separation'.
I enjoy historical and military related stories and this one brings the world of pre-WWII and on into the start of WWII events into perspective.
I liked the main character (Pug Henry).
The existing title carries a good/informative sense of the story line. No change!!
No
"Classic story of life and love"
I enjoy period classics and have seen GTW on video and the big screen several times. It brings the events of the Civil War and life during the war. Great historical novel!
There are few novels that truely have parity with GTW. It is a classic unto itself. I have read novels and stories about the Civl War eara, but they are not as sweeping as GTW. Great Book!!!!
She offered her own personal flavor to the reading. She conveyed the differen characters and events very well.
I have never 'read' GTW before and doubted if I would ever directly READ GTW, but listening to it was great.
"Greta period story"
The Audible version offered some emphasis to the story line. Mood was conveyed and tension in the story came through pretty good. I did not read the text, but the spoken word, when done by a diligent reader, offers more in sight into the mood and story telling process.
It may be more difficult, but the change of readers from male to female, as the story is relating, would be interesting.

Aleana and her brother- they experienced the fall from power, the response to that fall and their ultimate rise back to their previous staion in life. They hold a more broad knowledge base of life in that time and from different staions in their world.
I like to listen to talking books. I enjoy reading, but I enjoy more the spoken word. I particualrly enjoy listening while I drive. I drove over the road for 1 year and greatly enjoyed the companionship of Sirius radio and taliing books that I rented fro places along the highway. I offered consolation on long over night trips. That how I got 'hooked' on listening to stories. Listening does not put me to sleep as does listening to music. I can concentrate on the driving requirements and keep involved in the story/plot of the talking books. I drive severaltimes a year to my daughter home (300 miles) and I always take at least two talking books and the newer cars have provisions to play the Audible books through my Kindle on the car radio. My wife has become an advocate of listent to talking books while we drive.
