"Disappointing narration, but good story"
Really looked forward to this second book in the tri-book series. Again, enjoyed the story very much, but would have preferred that the performance was done with original narrator, Sean Crisden. Eagerly awaiting third book, Honored Vow, in the series....really hoping author will go back to Sean Crisden to narrate.
"Don't bother"
The story coulda/shoulda been good. The narration of this book was SO bad, I couldn't make it all the way through, I had to turn it off about 1/2 way. It was extremely difficult to tell which character was speaking at times. At other times, the stilted halting delivery was frustrating at best. There appears to be an issue with tense, in particular the word "ask". He ask, she ask....no, they did not... he ASKED, she ASKED. It started out as a minor annoyance, but by halfway through it was every instance and ended up being all I heard.
Apparently the words "emphatic" and "empathetic" are now interchangable as well.
I will not buy another book with this narrator. I would rather buy the book for my ereader and read it myself! Extremely disappointing, if this would allow me to give NO stars to performance I would have done that.
"Good Story, great narrator"
Once again, another book bought specifically for who was narrating...and once again...another very enjoyable story and narration!
"Really interesting storyand great narration"
I got this book specifically for the narrator and I wasn't disappointed. I thoroughly enjoyed this "ghost" story and Jack LeFleur as narrator was again wonderful.
"Great story and SUPERB narrator!"
Really good story, keeps you interested right to the end. The narrator, Jack LeFleur, was superb...going at just the right pace, you could tell the characters apart, and he has a wry sometimes sarcastic tone that really benefits the story. He announces the chapters so you know where you are and reads at just the right pace. I will be looking for other books with this narrator because he was so good.
"Excellent!!"
One of the best books I've listened to in quite a while. Lots of great story and fantastic ideas. I found it so good that I listened to the whole 11 hour story with only a short break. Kept me interested right to the end, and was able to evoke a very emotional reaction...both by story and the way it was narrated...unusual in today's writings. The narrator, Paul Morey, was superb! I will look for other books with this narrator!
"Excellent"
Good story, lived up to previous reads by this author.
Really good narration, easy listening, great flow.
Yes.
"Story was/could have been interesting....but"
I'd like to for the story, it had promise...but probably not. Truly barely made it thru the whole thing myself because of the poor and irritating narration. Couple of times was very close to just quitting listening, but hate to get into a story just to quit it.
Was so relieved to reach the end of the annoying narration, that I really didn't pay a whole lot of attention to ending, except for the "not-quite finished, please read the next book" type of ending.
NO. Until this narrator either grows up into her voice, and improves the robotic stilted quality, improving tremendously or the writer uses another narrator, I will not buy any more of this series, nor any other book where she is listed as narrator. Sorry, but much MUCH more practice is needed before going live again.
Yes, it didn't end with any kind of finality. However, I will not buy a follow-up book if the author keeps this narrator.
very disappointed all told.
"Loved it!"
Haven't read the print version
The interplay between Stefan and Charlotte really works to boost the main story going on between Stefan and Rand.
This one is great. Really like the narrator and his quirky sarcasm. I enjoyed the way he balances the characters with one another.
Yes..... and did!
This is the first book of Mary Calmes that I ever read, and it made me go look for the rest!!
"Great!"
In this case, yes. GREAT narrator - I hoped she would be after watching her charactor on the tv show Farscape
I enjoy all of LKH's books, but Claudia make this one a special treat!
I hope LKH uses her as narrator again!
