I enjoyed this book enormously. Julie’s books have a great storyline and she manages to mix that with sex that stems from passion. I enjoy passion in books and she certainly delivers it here. The female characters in her books are usually hesitant about getting involved emotionally and it is nice to read books where women are not always desperate (as I see played in real life).
This storyline is unique in that JG mixes the American Indian lifestyle and upbringing with the old British stuffiness. I like how she shows a strong Indian leader bending to his wife’s will to raise a child not his own during those times where white people were disliked so extensively by them. And then the strength in male character continues to show through in Lion as well. I just love the characters in this book. A nice mixture of good vs. evil.
it simply was not as gripping as I had hoped. Yes, the story got better towards the end of the book but Amery was a truly pathetic character who started the relationship in awe of the hero and made no mystery of it. Who would ever be interested with a pathetic person who is a self proclaimed looser? So pppppllllease !!! I could not see these two together. The hero is a closed person who just knows how to please a woman. Whoop de doo.
The last few chapters she finally gained some confidence and the story got better but the book ended with the reader hanging, needing to purchase the next books in the series to find out how things are resolved. I did not like the book enough to subject myself to another few hours of similar babble to find out what happens to their argument, but my guess is I predict survival.
I absolutely LOVE Ash. He is everything I've ever wanted in a man and then some. Extremely protective, kind, and generous. He makes sacrifices for his loved ones at his own expense and loves them to no end. At the same time he is strong and protective, he has his tender side that provoked so many emotions in me.
The book had a few very funny lines that jerk non expected spurts of LOL moments. Initially I was not as engaged in the book. But as the story continued, I became more and more invested in it. I can not say enough how lovely this book was or how profoundly it touched me, but I can say I hope you will enjoy it as much as I did and if not you'll still walk away completely satisfies. Finally, a man with a sense of duty, honor, and generosity!
I love books that talk about special powers an abilities and so it's only natural that I liked this book immediately. I found it clever and the storyline was suspenseful a bit as well. So if you are in the mood for a historical romanced do consider this one. Again, keep in mind that this is a 4 and not a 5 star. So if in the mood for a 5 star, get a Laura Kinsale book instead.
I LOVED book 3 with Em and was hoping to get the same in book 4 but I was disappointed a bit. There are a lot more thought repetitions in this book. More like page fillers that I find frustrating. I think had Joanna Wylde cut the mind babble in this book and shrunk it by 1/3 then this book could also have been great. I love how she changes the love scenes and make them unique per each story. So yes I was not taken by a surprise on this one but I still like her stories and can't wait for the next one in the series.
I purchased this book on sale and thought I could do worse for 4.99. Then I began listening to it and truly enjoyed it, Surprised? Yes I certainly was. An Adorable hero and the heroine was cute too. A bit caught up in her own issues but nevertheless cute. I enjoyed it and I hope you will too :)
Yes I got this book on sale for 4.99 and it was enjoyable enough. A billionaire who falls for a hard to get waitress. Obviously predictable story and characters were likable enough but the story was so much of a cliche that I lost a bit of my enthusiasm as I read further. Although it was not a story that drew me in and kept me glued, I did enjoy reading it nevertheless.
The story started and I immediately thought oh no, will this be another 50 shades? The stories were similar in that they both have a rich and yes he was a bit damaged but that is where the similarities ended.
This book should have been listed under drama. After reading this book I was completely emotionally drained. Goodness I never thought the book would go into so much details about problems Elle had to deal with. I wish the book description was a bit more clear about what her secret was so that the readers can decide on their own if they would like to expose themselves to the mental anguish accompanying the storyline. I assume for those of us who have had a loved one go through something similar would find it especially hard to read this book. Oh and no I won't spoil the book by saying what that was. Sorry folks.
So overall, I liked the story if it had a bit less drama and constant push and pull between the two main characters and fighting.
Gosh I like the male lead character in this book. He is real and handsome and completely sexy. I wrote the following review for the 2nd book in the series by mistake but it was meant for this book.
I found the love story refreshing and the sex scenes were some of the most original I've seen and I've read hundreds of romance books, so that's something coming from me. One of the hottest scenes was the one involving handcuffs. I got so hot I thought I would expire on the spot. Phew.
The male characters are not the classiest bunch with the constant cussing and crude language but the story and love seems real and well expressed and written. I truly enjoyed this book.
I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED this book. Purchasing it was such a great idea especially since I was hesitant based on the first book. But the book was on sale and I thought for 4.99, why not?

The performance was absolutely wonderful but on it's own, it could not help elevate the storyline more. The love story did not get built up and characters were not interesting enough. I found myself desperate for a historical romance and decided to give this book a chance but perhaps I should have looked a bit more. It took me a record breaking week to complete this book when it usually takes me a day to two at the most so this should be a clue enough for reviewers.
