"touching and hysterical"
as always, david sedaris is an absolute delight. his latest book shows a combination of emotional maturity mixed with his self-aware neurotic side that leads to several wonderful stories. several had me laughing so hard i was wondering if i should pull the car over; others were touching in that unique way that is real, not saccarine. the only thing better than reading david sedaris is hearing david sedaris read his pieces, so this audiobook is a must-have.
"fascinating introduction to a macabre subject"
i admit it. i watch CSI religiously. i like forensics shows. so this book would appeal to me. but mary roach does a fantastic job of not only delving into areas most of us would go to great pains to avoid, but also addressing the moral and ethical issues of such topics as organ donation and the use of cadavers in research. i learned a lot, the reading is well done, and the writing is done in a very accessible, even entertaining style. highly recommended.
"Excellent reading of vastly entertaining story"
i've been avoiding Snow Crash for ages, despite the high recommendations of my friends. in this case, i'm glad i went for the audiobook, because the reader they chose really made the listening a huge pleasure. the story is fast-paced, very entertaining, and rather amazing for how closely it parallels some of what is happening today. highly recommended.
