This audiobook contains runs for more than 60 hours. Not every of the story hits, but what does that matter if there is always another one? From poems to short stories to novelettes and covering more than 200 years, there is something here for everybody who likes a good vampire story. The initiated will find something he knows and likes, and the uninitiated will be introduced to something awesome. Definitely worth its two credits.

The technical quality is very good, and so are most of the narrators. Very little to complain here.

I cannot even begin to say what a great job Barbara Rosenblat does as a narrator. She is to the Amelia Peabody series what Jonathan Cecil is to the Wodehouse books. Ms. Rosenblat brings the story - and its wonderful humor - to life and elevates an already great book to even further heights.

I would like to believe there is a lot of humor in this book. Unfortunately, the author's reading is so drab and bland that none of this translates. The family that is portrayed here is too cruel (not in a physical way), too unloving for my taste. For example, one character contemplates changing the already ridiculous name of their child to something even more ridiculous, just to scorn another character. This was a mountain I could not climb, and the revelation of the actual mystery requires quite leap of faith (a few actually) to go along with. However, the book is well written and the setting is wonderful.

I would recommend it for fans only.

The narration is abysmal. It is so bad, that it is impossible to rate the content, because the flat narration overpowers anything good there may be. I do not understand how anything this bad can exist on Audible. I wish I could give -1 stars.
