Garrison Keillor's latest book is about the wedding of a girl named Dede Ingebretson, who comes home from California with a guy named Brent. Dede has made a fortune in veterinary aromatherapy; Brent bears a strong resemblance to a man wanted for extortion who's pictured on a poster in the town's post office. Then there's the memorial service for Dede's aunt Evelyn, who led a footloose and adventurous life after the death of her husband 17 years previously.

"I was expecting a bit more humor"
    Overall

I liked the book and I am a big fan of PHC but..
I was expecting a bit more humor. I was also surprised by the adult episodes.. I would not recommend this book as suitable for all ages.

John Henry Newton (1725 - 1807) was an Englishman, Anglican clergyman, and a former slave-ship captain. He was the author of many hymns, including "Amazing Grace". Here is a fascinating, colorful, and historically significant portrait of the slave-trader-turned-Christ-follower.

  • Thinking in Pictures: My Life with Autism

Temple Grandin, Ph.D., is a gifted animal scientist who has designed one third of all the livestock-handling facilities in the United States. She also lectures widely on autism - because Temple Grandin is autistic, a woman who thinks, feels, and experiences the world in ways that are incomprehensible to the rest of us.

A User says: "Interesting look Inside Autism"
    "Great book & well read"
    Overall

An interesting book that was written by an autistic person who miraculously earned a doctorate and now sports a long list of accomplishments in the cattle industry and is quite famous. The book talks in detail about what it’s like to be autistic as told by a person who considers herself bridging both worlds. ..strangely it is also about cows. There is a lot of credible information about both to be sure! I give it a four out of five simply because the last part of the book reveals some strange perceptions about God and religion but she wraps it up nicely after that.

Why we think it’s a great listen: There’s no gentle way to put this – Frank McCourt’s performance of Angela’s Ashes is just better than the Pulitzer Prize-winning book. Frank McCourt shares his sometimes heartwarming, sometimes heartbreaking story of growing up poor, Irish, and Catholic in the Pulitzer Prize-winning memoir Angela's Ashes.

Excellent book. Wanted it to continue.
So much detail. I think it ranks as the best audio book I have heard so far.

Reality TV. Celebutantes. YouTube. Sex Tapes. Gossip Blogs. Drunk Driving. Tabloids. Drug Overdoses. Is this entertainment? Why do we keep watching? What does it mean for our kids? In the last decade, the face of entertainment has changed radically - and dangerously, as addiction specialist Dr. Drew Pinsky and business and entertainment expert Dr. S. Mark Young argue in this eye-opening new book.

    "Pretty good book"
    Overall

OK first of all I was compelled to get this book after watching him get interviewed on the Bill O'Reilly show. He was very focused and his book looked interesting. After listening to several hours of him personally narrate his own book, it occurred to me that he could easily fill in for the guy that narrates "Burn Notice" (The TV series). His voice and inflections were almost an exact match (ha). His material was very focused and engaging. I am glad I bought this book. It is good stuff.
