I purchased this title because it was discounted and seemed like it might be entertaining. I am so glad I gave it a try. The world is very well realized and the reading is wonderful with nuance and inflection. I purposely save this to listen too as I use my elliptical machine because it makes me want to exercise just to listen to this story and I frequently go past my allotted time just to keep listening. A very nice change to the standard fantasy that is out there right now, no vampires or werewolves in sight.
Set in the world first introduced in Soulless, is a wonderful story of a teenage girl who doesn't quite fit into the role expected of her. The writing is as wonderful as the Alexia Taraboti books and so is the narration.
I would definitely recommend this book to anyone that enjoyed the Soulless series.
A wonderful continuation of the story and characters introduced in The Cloud Roads, can't wait for the 3rd installment. The world created by Martha Wells is simply amazing, I can see it all in my mind's eye as the story unfolds.
I have enjoyed listening to this audio book, the creatures are very interesting and unique, I have never come across this type before. A welcome change to the urban fantasy so popular these days. The reader is alright, though his female voices are a bit funny to listen too. He seems to use the same type of voice when the character is described to be of small stature, but not off putting to the enjoyment of the storyline. I will continue with the series.
Great start to another interesting story in the world created by Kelley Armstrong in her Women of the Otherworld Series.
I plan on purchasing the 2nd in the series.
I enjoyed this, the 2nd book in the series and look forward to the continuation of Maya's adventure / quest. Though this would be considered a young adult book, and I am most definitely not part of that demographic, I really like the story and where it is headed. Jennifer Ikeda does a wonderful job of reading the book and making it come to life for me.
I have been reading Ms. Armstrongs books for a while and started with "Bitten" featuring Elena and the werewolf pack. This is a great story set in the same world of the cabals and supernaturals introduced in that first book. Give it a try, if you've enjoyed that world, you won't be disappointed.
It was an okay book, Ms. Ronconi gave the narration the right amount of sarcasm and tonality for the main character. Her male voices were lacking though. I finished it and mildly enjoyed it, but I don't plan on continuing with the series.
I was pleasantly surprised and greatly enjoyed Pride & Prejudice & Zombies, but I have just started listening to this and I am not enjoying the storyline at all. The performance is wonderful as always, but I don't like where the story is heading. Will come back and revise this review after I have finished the book, but it may be a while since I don't find myself looking forward to it at all.
I have tried to listen to this audiobook 3 times now, and just can't seem to finish it. Andre Norton is one of my favorite authors from my teen years, and I have always enjoyed her stories. With this one I don't know if it is the story, not interesting to me, or the narration which is flat and boring, but I just don't enjoy it.
I thorough enjoyed this audio book even though it was outside my usual genre of Science Fiction or Fantasy. The story was interesting and the narrator was easy to listen too and understand, and did a good job of conveying the mood of the story.
