I really enjoyed the first book in the series, but the second one fell a little flat for me. I found it confusing. This one, though, was awesome. I really enjoyed all the action, and I feel like Sookie's reactions to her undead boyfriend and all the problem he causes is very realistic - as realistic as it can get considering he is a vampire LOL. But unlike Twilight, which is all teen-angst love, this feels more like Dracula meets Sex and the City. And since I love them both, it is perfect for me! I can't wait for the next one to see what happens!

I was into it enough to stick it out to the end, but I really thought there was going to be more to this story than what it was. I feel like the book is self-important, if you know what I mean. There was a lot of potential here, but in the end I think it kind of fell flat.

Life is too short and there are too many good books to read. I am all for magical realism, I really am, but I forgot that you have to make an investment when you go for books like that. Maybe over the summer I will pick up the actual book and thumb through it again. There are a lot of worthy parts of this book, but as a whole it just didn't come together for me. I will definitely look through it again, but for now, I have 10 wish list pages of books to listen to.

I haven't read Stephen King in a long time. This is a nice, quick short read about a timely subject. I have many friends who love their Kindle, but I just don't know. I loved King's almost satirical look at the device, and I love how he takes an ordinary object and makes it magical and mystical. Maybe some won't like the ending, but overall, it was a great short listen. Loved it!

I know some people had a problem with the narration, but honestly, I don't see why. Olive Kitteridge is an old woman with a New England accent. I felt that the narration was fitting.

While some stories I didn't "get" or enjoy as much as other stories, overall, the picture the stories created was so touching. The best stories were the ones with Olive, for sure. I am excited to buy the hard copy of this book and reread it, and use it in my high school literature class. I think you might need to be a little bit older to appreciate the themes of this book, but the language is beautiful. Not to be missed!

I enjoyed this book, especially the end. There were a few times in the first half that I considered abandoning the book, but I am glad I didn't. It does move slow at first, but the tension definitely builds and the payoff is worth it. At least I thought so!

I too struggled with the beginning part of the book. I almost abandoned it, but there were so many great reviews of it, I decided to stick with it. I told myself one more chapter and luckily that was the chapter that grabbed me. It isn't my most favorite book, but the characters definitely grabbed me and I loved the ending. I will absolutely give the next book a listen.

I really loved the parts of the story that detailed the journalist's experiences in other countries. I plan to use the book in both a journalism class I teach as well as a multicultural literature class I teach. However, the love story, which is a secondary plot, is cheesy, cliche and predictable; also the narrator's male voice for the boyfriend was terrible. Bostonians do NOT sound like that!
