I am an avid "reader"- I prefer to listen to books rather than read them due to the added dimension added by the narrator.

Khaled Hosseini, the number-one New York Times best-selling author of The Kite Runner and A Thousand Splendid Suns, has written a new novel about how we love, how we take care of one another, and how the choices we make resonate through generations. In this tale revolving around not just parents and children but brothers and sisters, cousins and caretakers, Hosseini explores the many ways in which families nurture, wound, betray, honor, and sacrifice for one another; and how often we are surprised by the actions of those closest to us, at the times that matter most.

Would you consider the audio edition of And the Mountains Echoed to be better than the print version?

I did not read the printed version. But I can't imagine that it could beat the audio book.
The voices were so expressive and outstanding.

What other book might you compare And the Mountains Echoed to and why?

I cannot think right now, of another book that I would compare And the Mountains Echoed to. It is quite unique in its constant switching from the past to the present, and at times, it took a minute to figure out which character was being featured. However, the overall effect was to weave all the various stories about the characters as children and as adults into a beautiful if not painful saga in which family members experienced loss and reunion, but not in a timely fashion, drastically affecting the outcome. A must read.

Which character – as performed by the narrators – was your favorite?

I think Pari (spelling?) would be my favourite.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I did all of the above. I laughed, I cried and felt deeply for the characters. The character development was one of the strengths of this book. I had read Mr. Hosseini's two previous books which I absolutely loved. This one was a bit different in its layout and premise.
But it is a triumphant work that I am very glad I read.

"He promised to take me as far as I could go - and I wanted to go to the edge. My whole life has been a cover, a con, a lie. I was born into the grift, raised on the thrill of playing someone I'm not. As a rule, I never let anyone get too close - until Cole August makes it impossible for me to stay away." An all-new erotic series of three enigmatic and powerful men, and the striking women who can bring them to their knees.

I am still reading this book. But I find that the narrator makes Cole sound like Bart Simpson.
The voice is distracting from the intensity of Cole. The story is realistic and fraught with baggage on the part of the hero and heroine.

When Hanna Bergstrom receives a lecture from her overprotective brother about neglecting her social life and burying herself in grad school, she's determined to tackle his implied assignment: get out, make friends, start dating. And who better to turn her into the sultry siren every man wants than her brother's gorgeous best friend, Will Sumner, venture capitalist and unapologetic playboy?

What I love about Christina Lauren's style is that she intersperses a real story line with sex.
The sex is very hot and the voice is wonderful, as provided by Grace Grant. I like the characters and how they are developed. I also like that Ms. Lauren has taken the three members of the threesome and developed a story surrounding each one of them and the ladies that they develop relationships with. Hannah is at times, almost a bit annoying in her naiveté. But I am sure that this is done to enhance the sex scenes between her and Will.
I really enjoyed this trilogy and will listen to all the books again for sure.

Gideon calls me his angel, but he's the miracle in my life. My gorgeous, wounded warrior, so determined to slay my demons while refusing to face his own. The vows we'd exchanged should have bound us tighter than blood and flesh. Instead they opened old wounds, exposed pain and insecurities, and lured bitter enemies out of the shadows. I felt him slipping from my grasp, my greatest fears becoming my reality, my love tested in ways I wasn't sure I was strong enough to bear.

This was the first book in which there were two narrators, one male and one female.
Each narrator does the voice at times, of the opposite sex. I did not feel as if the voice of Gideon was what I would have imagined his voice to sound like. It was not forceful enough.
The story was like a shit storm... It was almost as if Ms. Day was looking for things to mess Gideon up with, and I had trouble understanding why Chris Sr. saying he didn't know about the abuse, sent Gideon over the edge. Perhaps this will be explained in the next book. I feel like Gideon needs to work through his dreams and talk out his problems to the point where his nightmares stop... otherwise, there is no happy ending in sight. Common Ms. Day... help Gideon out!

Tess, an aspiring seamstress, thinks she's had an incredibly lucky break when she is hired by famous designer Lady Lucile Duff Gordon to be a personal maid on the Titanic's doomed voyage. Once on board, Tess catches the eye of two men, one a roughly-hewn but kind sailor and the other an enigmatic Chicago millionaire. But on the fourth night, disaster strikes. Amidst the chaos and desperate urging of two very different suitors, Tess is one of the last people allowed on a lifeboat. Tess’s sailor also manages to survive unharmed, witness to Lady Duff Gordon’s questionable actions during the tragedy.

The title would never give away the fact that this novel surrounds the Titanic disaster, and the effect it has on numerous people, including the protagonist. There is a bit of romance thrown in, and the heroine has to choose between two suitors... one with money and one without, and she makes the right choice in the end. A good story but not great. It was not memorable particularly, but was an enjoyable read. Can't say I'd be running to recommend it though.

For fans of Fifty Shades of Grey and Bared to You comes the third novel in the erotic, fast-paced trilogy including Release Me and Claim Me. This sexy, emotionally charged romance continues the story of Damien Stark, the powerful multimillionaire who's never had to take "no" for an answer, and Nikki Fairchild, the Southern belle who only says "yes" on her own terms.

I didn't think I could find a series as "stimulating" as the Crossfire series but wow... this outdid it in my opinion. The ending is satisfying though there is some heartbreak thrown in for good measure. Not spoiling it.

Damien Stark’s need is palpable - his need for pleasure, his need for control, his need for me. Beautiful and brilliant yet tortured at his core, he is in every way my match. I have agreed to be his alone, and now I want him to be fully mine. I want us to possess each other beyond the sweetest edge of our ecstasy, into the deepest desires of our souls. To let the fire that burns between us consume us both. But there are dark places within Damien that not even our wildest passion can touch. I yearn to know his secrets, yearn for him to surrender to me as I have surrendered to him. But our troubled pasts will either bind us close...or shatter us completely.

This book fleshed out the relationship between Damien and Nikky, and there was a lot of suspense intertwined with the sex. As in the Crossfire series, Nikky doubts herself a lot during the books, and struggles with her urge to return to cutting herself, a practice she began after having grown up with an overly controlling and emotionally abusive mother. This is disturbing, but kept in check through the book. As Nikky becomes more sure of Damien's love for her, she is able to overcome this, except during the most stressful situations. Damien is able to understand her need for pain and provides her with outlets for it that are much healthier. I really like this couple.

He was the one man I couldn’t avoid. And the one man I couldn’t resist. Damien Stark could have his way with any woman. He was sexy, confident, and commanding: Anything he wanted, he got. And what he wanted was me. Our attraction was unmistakable, almost beyond control, but as much as I ached to be his, I feared the pressures of his demands. Submitting to Damien meant I had to bare the darkest truth about my past - and risk breaking us apart. But Damien was haunted, too. And as our passion came to obsess us both, his secrets threatened to destroy him - and us - forever.

Jeez... I thought the Crossfire series was hot. This certainly gave them a run for the money.
The combination of the hot dialogue, fabulous narration by Sofia Willingham and numerous sexual fantasies and slightly kinky sex made for a very hot but enjoyable book. Other characters were also developed, and I was left wanting to listen to the other two books. Which I did. Wow.

Gideon Cross: As beautiful and flawless on the outside as he was damaged and tormented on the inside. He was a bright, scorching flame that singed me with the darkest of pleasures. I couldn’t stay away. I didn’t want to. He was my addiction…my every desire…mine. My past was as violent as his, and I was just as broken. We’d never work. It was too hard, too painful…except when it was perfect. Those moments when the driving hunger and desperate love were the most exquisite insanity. We were bound by our need. And our passion would take us beyond our limits to the sweetest, sharpest edge of obsession.…

This series was addictive. Really ramped up the juices! Eva and Gideon work out the kinks in their relationship as this second instalment in the Crossfire series continues. Eva and Gideon really are very well suited to one another...Eva just seems to miss that point on numerous occasions, letting her insecurities and fear of abandonment from her childhood influence her faith in Gideon's love and devotion to her. A great series.

The worldwide phenomenon continues as Eva and Gideon face the demons of their pasts and accept the consequences of their obsessive desires.... From the moment I first met Gideon Cross, I recognized something in him that I needed. Something I couldn’t resist. I also saw the dangerous and damaged soul inside - so much like my own. I was drawn to it. I needed him as surely as I needed my heart to beat. No one knows how much he risked for me. How much I’d been threatened, or just how dark and desperate the shadow of our pasts would become.

Well, this was my first foray into erotic fiction. It certainly was hot. I felt Ms. Redfield really nailed the voices of both Eva and Gideon which is not an easy task. This book set the scene for the remainder of the trilogy which followed this pair through numerous ups and downs, and showcased the damage that can be done to a soul from sexual abuse. Both the characters were developed in that light and this was interesting to see. Overall, very enjoyable.
