Payne, twin sister of Vishous, is cut from the same dark, seductive cloth as her brother. Imprisoned for eons by their mother, the Scribe Virgin, she finally frees herself - only to face a devastating injury. Manuel Manello, M.D., is drafted by the Brotherhood to save her as only he can - but when the human surgeon and the vampire warrior meet, their two worlds collide in the face of their undeniable passion. With so much working against them, can love prove stronger than the birthright and the biology that separates them?

    Overall

I have to agree with the others that this installment is too much like others in the series. Unfortunately, I'm adding J.R. Ward to the same "do not read" list that Anita Hamilton and Chairlanne Harris occupy. The first books in all the series were great, but as the series continued, they've lost their steam.

Deep in the stacks of Oxford's Bodleian Library, young scholar Diana Bishop unwittingly calls up a bewitched alchemical manuscript in the course of her research. Descended from an old and distinguished line of witches, Diana wants nothing to do with sorcery; so after a furtive glance and a few notes, she banishes the book to the stacks. But her discovery sets a fantastical underworld stirring, and a horde of daemons, witches, and vampires soon descends upon the library.

    Overall

While the writing was decent, the storyline was so contrived that I am insulted. It started out about witches, but before long it had every paranormal character and plot that is out there in it. This is the straw that broke the camel's back, for if I have to read one more story about the paranormal, I'll scream! I'd read this author again if she tried another genre.
