Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

The people I know that like paranormal romance, although this is so much more, will love the series and this book. The reason I love this book is watching the relationships develop over many books, not to say that the fast interaction is not awesome. This is about a male/male relationship which may scare some people, but start at the beginning and you are waiting for the wrap up of this relationship. With that said, it was well written and I loved their love. Amazing. I was worried about how this would be handled. I should not have given it a thought.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I love Blay. Always did. He is gentle but hard. Willing to go with it but hating it....knowing it should be different..giving what he can, taking what he can but honest about it for the most part. Quinn makes you sad at every freaking turn as hard as he tries.

    Which scene was your favorite?

Blay and Quinn are in a bar, the honesty....

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

    I did shed tears.

    Any additional comments?

It would be hard to pick this book up and feel the pain, passion and connection. The series is one that keeps you going. I am so anxious for the main attraction the first time I listen, I sometimes miss the subtle introductions, which are many. This writer keeps you going. Characters are amazing and well developed. When a new book comes out I feel like I am visiting my good friends ;0)...with tons of drama.

Meltzer delivers a great political conspiracy novel here with a little romance, a little back stabbing, a few crazy people and someone has something to hide type characters that come to life. The hero of this book is unlikely, the villain is somewhat predictable but the way the bit players come in and out of the story is great. I didn't really have the solution to this and the twists made the rethinking of the characters actions fun. A solid entertaining listen.

I liked this book. I followed along the lines the author wanted me to, well defined and directing. The story is believable and creepy and you can't help but be caught up in it. I had no idea where I was going in the story and was surprised by the conclusion. A solid listen and great effort by this author. I'm expecting to read more by her.

I did not start this series where I should have and it seemed to me that my favorite FBI agent did not play as big a role as I would hope in this book. On reflection, this has been the way these books develop. Pendegrast slinks into the story and captivates you while he is in the book. The characters are awesome and easy to follow while our FBI lead is a mystery. This book scared the be-Jesus out of me and it will scare you too if you follow through on their thinking.....good listen!

Justin and Libby Denbe have the kind of life you’d find in the pages of a glossy magazine: A beautiful 14-year-old daughter. A gorgeous brownstone on a tree-lined street in Boston’s Back Bay neighborhood. A great marriage, admired by all. A perfect life. When investigator Tessa Leone arrives at the crime scene in the foyer of the Denbes’ home, she finds scuff marks on the floor and a million tiny pieces of bright green Taser confetti. The family appears to have been abducted.

I so did not want my "who" to really be the who done it. I wanted this to be a better ending book. Alas, in the steps of Gone Girl, I was to be disappointed. Liked the book. Really liked the book but came away at the end a little deflated. It is not a bad thing for a book to take you on a ride so you actually care. I cared...sigh.

It has been eight years since Dr. David Beck’s wife, Elizabeth, was murdered by a serial killer. When Beck receives a message containing a phrase only Elizabeth should know, he is tormented to tears. Either someone is playing a sick joke, or the wife he’s never stopped loving is still alive. I think this author is climbing up my "go to" author list. The characters in this book are forced to behave out of their comfort zones to walk the paths that eventually lead to the answers they are seeking and I think they were wishing they had given up their answers long ago. The main character has a secret. By mid book I knew the secret. . Turns out so did the person he had been hiding it from. The clues given absolutely add up to the conclusion but could be seen from a different angle and throw you off track. While I thought I knew the who and why of it, I was not spot on and understood I had matched the clues in such a way as to be right on my analysis. Totally enjoyed this book.

I gave the performance a three because although the narration did seem to fit our main character, he seemed almost bored in places that could have used a little more emotion. He was not annoying however and his character voices were believable and appropriate.

Among the Shadowdwellers, Trace holds power that some are willing to kill for. Without a stranger's aid, one rival would surely have succeeded, but Trace's brush with death is less surprising to him than his reaction to the beautiful, fragile human who heals him. By rights, Trace should hardly even register Ashla's existence within the realm of Shadowscape, but instead he is drawn to everything about her-her innocence, her courage, and her lush, sensual heat.

This was a great story line. It grabbed me from the first chapter and delivered throughout the book. The characters were a delight. Great fun to learn about this new race, the world they lived in and the rules they lived by which were unique. The love story developed in a believable way with just enough angst so not to be annoying. The interaction between the characters given this new world and its rules were captivating. Although this follows the romance genre formula it was just different enough to make you believe it was not the typical romance genre formula. Despite all of the above, the plot was predictable, but like you would wish for an old friend, I was happy to see things work out as I had hoped.

Most romance genre books have a formula that most authors stick to and the series have a formula that the authors stick to. This one is no different. Solid strong male lead, female lead with issues that could prevent her from seeing the love the male lead has to give if you look under the gruff exterior. She finally sees the light and they live happily ever after. This formula suited this book. The characters were charming in their own way and the love story was believable for this genre. The side stories were just as enjoyable. I enjoyed the listen and look forward to more from Maya Banks in this series.

This story only got three stars because the normally very faulty leading man was blatantly silly about the women he interacted with; slow in his deductive reasoning and a very poor planner . How can you make a revenge plan when going through Heroin withdrawal and if you do, why would you think its a good one when you are through going through withdrawal? With that said, I once again was wrapped up in my character's personalities, their slow walk toward redemption and their very real need to be honorable. While not set in Ireland, the Denver/Boulder area fairly leaps of the page and you had to chuckle about the Irish discontent with 100 degree temperatures.

Everyone has an issue, everyone has something to hide. This book includes teen suicide, bullying, prescription drugs, chronically ill children, runaways. It also has loving families who no longer know what to do, marriages built on lies, empty nest syndrome. You will ride along with characters who are strong and broken at the same time. Harlan Coben's books seem to have multiple plots which twist and wind together throughout the book, making any big reveal a truth you may not have considered. Despite the tragic themes, this book was a great listen and of course, Scott Brick brings it to life!
