I am a big fan of this author. I've enjoyed so many of her audiobooks but this one lacked tension. It just sorta lagged. There was no excitement, no characters I fell in love with, just sorta bland... I liked it enough for three stars.
I couldn't get into it. The narrator was flat. I had to go back again and again. So NoT worth it. I think if I had read it (instead of listened to it) it would have been better.
Character development was fantastic. The storyline was realistic and had various levels of depth adding a richness to the book. I'm not usually into wartime books but this was great.
This book is very very good. It's not my usual suspense novel. It's hardly able to call itself one. However, I loved it. I feel like I'm a better person to have read it, experienced it, and in a sense, lived it. The narration is fantastic. The storyline had me hooked within an hour. Sometimes you read a book and you know that, though it was alright, you'll forget about it after a month or two (those airport fictions). I will remember this book for years to come.
I enjoyed this book a ton. Narration was good, storyline was good... but I really hated the ending. You might like it. I was really disappointed.
I liked it but it's forgetible... ya know, airplane paperback type of time-passing-but-not-really-deeply-engaging kinda book.
I really liked this book. I love books that get philosophical without getting in the way of the storyline. I learned things, I thought about things, and I listened to a great book.
I'm not the type that wants all the good guys to be saints and all the bad guys to be demons. I'm the type that likes the protagonist to have a really humanistic personality where the good does out way the bad but he/she is not perfect. This book is one of those predictible cheeseball books where good always prevails and it's perfectly obvious that it's going to no matter how the odds may be against the good guys. Narration was good. It was brutal to get through though.
Very suspenseful. I was listening to it alone in my apartment and I could not turn out the light. I loved it.
This would make a great book for an adolescent, preteen maybe. I bought it for a long drive and I kept waiting for it to get good... never did. No gripping suspense, overly dramatic and stereotypical characters. However, if I was 13, I think I would have really enjoyed it.
