This is the story of Kitty Fane, the adulterous wife of a bacteriologist stationed in Hong Kong. When her husband discovers her deception, he exacts a terrible vengeance: Kitty must accompany him to the heart of a cholera epidemic in China.

    "WONDERFUL NARRATOR!"

After watching the movie, I wanted to read the book. It was obviously a better book. Much more human ending. The narrator brought the book to life in such a way that it truly moved me. Thank you! Great buy!

On an entirely normal, beautiful fall day in Chester's Mill, Maine, the town is inexplicably and suddenly sealed off from the rest of the world by an invisible force field. Planes crash into it and fall from the sky in flaming wreckage, a gardener's hand is severed as "the dome" comes down on it, people running errands in the neighboring town are divided from their families, and cars explode on impact. No one can fathom what this barrier is, where it came from, and when - or if - it will go away.

I am happy yet saddened to be finished with this accomplishment by Stephen King. I do not know what I will do after "Under the Dome". It is an all-encompassing story that you just dont want to put down. Definitely King at his best - Stand quality no doubt! I would love to see a movie production. This story is to vivid not to have multiple mediums. Also, Raul Esparza was an excellent reader. Enjoyed him greatly! A lot of characters, but the most important are well-developed and others are brought along enough that there was no problem recalling their previous mentions. Thank you Stephen King for another wonderful contribution to the genre.

America is a barren landscape of smoldering ashes, devoid of life except for those people still struggling to scratch out some type of existence. Amidst this destruction, a father and his young son walk, always toward the coast, but with no real understanding that circumstances will improve once they arrive. Still, they persevere, and their relationship comes to represent goodness in a world of utter devastation.

    "Cormac has done it again!"
    Overall

I loved the audio version of "No Country for Old Men", but this book, though very dark, was a wonderful piece of art. Much more intense in human emotions and relationships than "No Country". I think the boiled down version of the earth gives way to the human soul. Also, to be able to feel the unspoken thoughts of the two, and their situation gives much credit to the author. You find yourself wanting so much for them.

    Overall

I love this book! It was long-awaited, but what a great listen! I love the humanity that Harris' gives to the normally cold and self-absorbed Eric. I am actually reading it a second time, since I have finished the series. I can not wait until May!
