I really pondered what to say about this book because I normally love Robyn Carr books. I liked the main characters and the story was interesting enough.....it just didn't keep my attention. Not sure if it was the story itself, the narration, or the combination of both. I've listened to books read by Alison Larkin before that were good but this one was a bit distracting.

Overall, I'm disappointed because I love this author and I expected more.

The Highlands of Scotland, Autumn 1344..... She had won his heart without trying... and he can only pray for the chance to give her his. When Findley McKenna returns after his battle with the English to offer Maggy Boyle a home amongst his clan, he finds only death and destruction instead of the young widow who has stolen his heart. The only things left of her home is the burned out hut and decaying bodies of the auld people Maggy has taken care of for the past three years. With only a prayer, his Highlander heart, and a bit of bloodied plaid to cling to, Findley will crawl through hell if he must, in order to find Maggy and her sons and avenge the massacre before him.

    Story

This is the second book in the series which follows Findleys journey to bring Maggy and her boys back to the safety of the MacDougall clan. {As I stated in my review of the first book, ‘Laiden’s Daugher’, this is not a historically detailed series but rather light romances with some historical elements}.

This is a feel good adventurous Highland story that is humorous, touching and made me smile more than once. Findley is a Highlander with a big heart. He is so smitten with Maggy that he becomes a fool for love and even lacks judgment at times. Maggy is a strong mother of 5 who tends to be overly secretive, sensible and melodramatic. Findley, Maggy, the boys, Wee William and the highlanders embark on an adventure to heal the wounds of the past and build on hope and love for the future. The narration was great!

If you enjoy a good Highland Romance story without detailed sex scenes then this book is for you.

    Story

This highland adventure is set in 1329 Scotland. This is not a Historically detailed story but rather a light romance with some Historical elements.

This is the story of Aishlinn, who was treated cruelly (emotionally & physically) by her step-father, brothers, and an Earl. This story really focuses on Aishlinn’s self-esteem issues and shows her journey of self discovery filled with adventure and romance. The “hero” (Duncan) originally finds Aishlinn to be a frightened and abused young woman. He helps her to overcome her insecurities and demonstrates how patience, tenderness, and love can transcend abuse.

My only negative about this story is that by the end of the book there are still a few unanswered questions. Primarily details about some people and events in her past. Maybe they will be answered in the other books in the series? Hope so.

This is definitely a Cinderella style romance. This is a love story that is more romantic than sexual and, of course, they lived happily ever after!

    Story

I actually liked the “talented healer” storyline of this book. The Heroine, Aileanna, is a strong woman who has the power to heal and is sought after by other clans because of her ability. The Hero, Toran, is a powerful Laird who not only notices Aileanna’s “talent” but her beauty. Although I found this story and the characters interesting it unfortunately is low on excitement and high on predictability. It had glimpses of adventure throughout the book but lacked an inspiring impact.

If you like simple highland romances without surprises (or many twists and turns) then you will probably enjoy this book.

This addition to the series was Duke's story. Duke is the sheriff of the town and the last of the Grayson brothers to get married. He meets Faith when she moves into town with her aunts, little brother, and daughter. Their love develops but Faith's past begins to overshadow their future together.

This story (as well as the whole series) has so many poignant moments between the couples and the family members. They are rich stories filled with good old fashioned romances....nothing fancy.....just wonderfully written stories of love, honor, passion, laughter, justice and forgiveness. These rugged Grayson men are not afraid to meet a challenge and definitely aren't afraid to admit when they are wrong. This whole series takes takes you back to when men were gentlemen and chivalry was alive.

This series is a winner.....5 stars!

    Story

This is not the conventional romance story at all. This book doesn't follow the usual formula of "boy meets girl....then the story begins". In this addition to "The Dukes Men" series we find newlyweds Victor and Isa who are torn apart because of a crime scandal. Victor searches for Isa and an adventure with danger, heartache, mystery, crime, family tragedy and romance unfold.

Overall, I enjoyed this book. It's a simple easy romance to listen to especially if you enjoy regency romances. (You might want to skip this one if regency romances aren't to your liking).

Also, Corrie James did a wonderful job with the narration. ;-)

    Story

This second book of the "Daughters of the Glen" is a great addition to the series. Without giving too much of the book away.......the story follows Sarah Douglas, a romance writer, through an adventure of self revelation. She discovers she is part Fae with "sensing" powers. Ian McCullah, who is half Fae, is a "Guardian" and begins to protect Sarah from the "bad guys". Their love blooms into a sensual journey that is exciting, sweet, sensual, and romantic.

This is a fun sexy Scottish adventure full of twists and turns. It is a nicely written tale with delightful minor characters that are captivating, endearing, and (some) threatening. The narrator did a wonderful job with each voice.

I recommend this book....especially if you've read the first book (Thirty Nights with a Highland Husband).

As the daughter of a famed author, Isolde Ophelia Goodnight grew up on tales of brave knights and fair maidens. She never doubted romance would be in her future, too. The storybooks offered endless possibilities. And as she grew older, Izzy crossed them off. One by one by one....Now Izzy's given up yearning for romance. She'll settle for a roof over her head. What fairy tales are left over for an impoverished 26-year-old woman who's never even been kissed?

This book is a light and easy to follow romance that has funny moments, endearing secondary characters, and some twists and turns I didn't see coming.

Issy is a plain 26 year old spinster who has given up on love. Ransom is a handsome proud Duke who has been given up on life. Together they embark on a quest to discover a better life and, of course, love.

This book is not a detailed historical romance it's more of a sigh-worthy fluffy fun romantic fairy tale. It's a cute rainy (or snowy) day listen.

This is the third book of the MacKenzie brothers. This is the story of Amelia, who is a determined spitfire and Knox who is a strong and honorable Laird. They meet after Amelia and her nephew escape from Edinborough Scotland and end up at the Laird's land. The story evolves into a tender, sensual, and tension filled love story with light adventure.

The narration was really good. I liked her unique way of pausing and emphasizing when she's reading.

If you enjoy sweet, feel good romances like me...then this is for you. (FYI: this book is written in the first person.....so if you don't particularly enjoy books written like that, you may want to skip this one.)

    Story

This book really surprised me. I wasn't expecting this story to be a captivating, emotional, funny and romantic....but it was.

The main characters are both very emotionally hurt individuals. Iain is a tortured romantic soul and Page is a sassy smart-mouthed wench. When they meet they are drawn together both emotionally and physically then set out on a journey to overcome their insecurities and find love and family. The minor characters in this book added so much emotion and humor (it's really unfair to call them minor). The narrator did a great job with this book. Hope he reads the next book in the series.

This adventure has hostages, murder, romance, secrets, anguish, lies, silly nudity, and just cute fun. I am looking forward to book 2.

Three intrepid princesses find themselves targets in a deadly plot against the crown - until their uncle devises a brilliant plan to keep them safe.... Of all her sisters, Princess Stefanie is by far the least amenable to law and order, which is why she’s appalled to find herself masquerading as an unbearably drab clerk for the most honorable barrister in England. But her dull disguise turns out to have its privileges: namely, the opportunity to consort unchaperoned with her employer’s exceedingly handsome nephew, James Lambert, the Marquess of Hatherfield.

    Story

This book has many great similarities to the first book such as wonderfully written characters, interesting storyline and steamy romance. The story is written in a past/present timeline which took me a while to get accustomed to the rhythm. Once I adapted to this I appreciated the adventure, mystery, wit, and charm of the story.

    {My only negative comment (if you could call it that) is that Princess Stephanie disguises herself as a man in this story which is exactly what Princess Emilie does in the first book. It's not necessarily a disappointment.......it just felt a bit 'old'. Other than that I enjoyed it.}

The narration was excellent. Each character was distinct and spot on. Bravo!

If you enjoy adventurous, cute, steamy romantic stories this series is a winner.
