Never Give Up
Jack always seems to bring the whole community together but in this particular book it had to be Walt, "one big scary dude", who broke all the stereotypes.
I been listening to Therese Plummer read "Virgin River" to me from the very beginning. So, to me, she IS the voice of these people. Before I was forced to rely on audiobooks only, I read all the time but I get three times more out of the books from listening to them now. Therese is an exceptional reader. She makes every character unique and alive in their own way. Sometimes you can tell by the change in her breathing which character is coming up next. (not to say that it is distracting tho)
Both laughter and crying along with the warm and fuzzies.
Robyn Carr has a wonderful sense of community in her creation of Virgin River and it's residents. I search her name all the time now to see what else she has written and eagerly await the next book. I also do the same with Therese Plummer to see what else see has been involved in.
I was disappointed with the first 7 Chapters of this book. It was nothing but "woe is me. I just got out of a bad relationship" from Payton, the P.A., who according to the info blurb, is supposed to be falling for the local doc. This doesn't even start, with a BAD pickup line :), until Chapter 8. From then on things happen according to what we are expecting and it becomes a nice story.
This is a romance within several mysteries that is not easy to figure out before the ending of the book. Personally, I liked the reality of the situations within the many different characters. Animal lovers beware, the dog does get injured but makes a complete recovery. Yay!
Kat Martin is one of my most favorite authors. Jack Garrett is a wonderful Narrator. Which Brother is next?! I'm ready!!
Books 13 and 14 are about the Murray twins, Atan and Lucas. Their stories are as different as their personalities. After a savage beating and the "death" of his Lady Love, Lucas returns for revenge. Only he finds his Lady Love is already in the process of avenging his believed death - My favorite Part of this Book is a Strong Female Lead Character. So when the two of them get together to "put things to right and settle their believed heartbreaks" sparks fly.
Hannah, please continue to give us lots more of the Murray family! I love it.
Honestly I bought this book only because I like redheads. The story and character development was a delightful surprise. From "real people" in the community making up the soliders in the militia to the bond that develops almost immediately between Tobias and Dylan. Their struggles, hers with PTSD and his with the Dylan he comes to know vs. who her file says she is, are totally on the mark and lead to a breathtaking ending. I definitely recommend this book to anyone who likes romance, intrigue, and muscles.
I seldom read SciFi books but after reading all the exciting reviews, I decided to give it a try. I was entralled with the story in about 10 minutes and was literally biting my lip til the end. The idea of a child being groomed for leadership in a 'planetary defense" plan just didn't seem right to me but I soon forgot his age until the story reminded me of it.
For those who like to read books in the order of events instead of publishing dates, I am going to reprint the list that I found so helpful that "Joe, from California" mentioned in a review that I can't find again:
Shadow of the Hegeman
Shadow of the Giant
Speaker for the Dead
Children of the Mist
First Meeting - a collection of short stories that fill in small details that is recommended after finishing the series.
Thank You, Joe.
A great homage to what Real Love is Like: as an older man's memories pass through over 4 decades, a World War, challenges that are overcome and rejoiced over due to living life as Couple dedicated to each other. Also we get to meet a modern young couple learning what Real Love is: how to recognize it, how to show it, support the one you love, and how to take a leap of faith.
If any art lovers are out there, you will get a kick out of the collection of "eccentric" artists that Ira and Ruth collect over their lifetime that leads to an amazing Auction twist at the end that I really didn't see coming at all. (I would name a few artists but I am afraid that my spelling of their names would be disrespectful).
If any bullriders or Rodeo fans out there, you will get a thrilling view of life on the Circuit as well.
I loved the experience of reading this book! I thought I had it all figured out in the first chapter but Boy! was I Wrong! Thank You Julie Garwood for a wonderful story full of intrigue, romance, and historical background threaded throughout till the very end. I can't wait for the rest of the series.
I liked Cooper when I first met him visiting Virgin River. Getting to know him better in Thunder Point was not a disappointment. This series shows a lot of promise of more heartwarming, fun-loving, and a little crazy love in a small eccentric community. I can't wait to see whose next on the "hit" list. Thanks, Robyn.
I really enjoyed this well rounded story. It had intrigue, lots of humor, and during the first quarter, danger. Danger for the plans of each and every scheming character who was going to solve all their problems by "using" the others. Then what happens? LOVE.
Don't really care for the narrator's accent tho...
Everyone has plans for the Heir...but they forget one thing - He is a Highlander and refuses to be manipulated. Then He comes to the rescue of the innocent lass who is blamed for sabotaging all their plans. Ahh, love is born.
