The wickedest, most wonderful science fiction story ever created in our - or any - time. Anything can begin at a party in California - and everything does in this bold masterwork by a grand master of science fiction. When four supremely sensual and unspeakably cerebral humans - two male, two female - find themselves under attack from aliens who want their awesome quantum breakthrough, they take to the skies - and zoom into the cosmos on a rocket roller-coaster ride of adventure, danger, ecstasy, and peril.

I very surprised that the rating were high when I bought it. I love Heinlein's Sci-Fi that not a joke. This a comedy and party continues

The mining ship El Cavador is far out from Earth, in the deeps of the Kuiper Belt, beyond Pluto. Other mining ships, and the families that live on them, are few and far between this far out. So when El Cavador’s telescopes pick up a fast-moving object coming in-system, it’s hard to know what to make of it. It’s massive and moving at a significant fraction of the speed of light.

El Cavador has other problems. Their systems are old and failing. The family is getting too big for the ship. There are claim-jumping corporate ships bringing Asteroid Belt tactics to the Kuiper Belt.

The character in this book march through the story like robots. I loved the first story it had some feeling between the characters. Most of this book is shooting with a very little plot behind it.

But one major problem remains: Alpha, the sole survivor of Charon's cybernetic empire. Outwardly indistinguishable from a human woman, Alpha has superhuman capabilities, some of which are still unknown. I have listen to all of book by Catherine Asaro and like all of them. This book is one of the best. I wanted the story to go on. I wish she would take up writing full time. The Narration by Hillary was excellent.
