Two men possess vital information on Russia's Star Wars missile defense system. One of them is Cardinal -- America's highest agent in the Kremlin -- and he's about to be terminated by the KGB. The other one is the American who can save Cardinal and lead the world to the brink of peace . . . or war. Here is author Tom Clancy's heart-stopping masterpiece -- a riveting novel about one of the most intriguing issues of our time.

    Story

This is a great story and probably the most underrated book in the series. It deserves a movie for sure. It is suspenseful and very engaging. It's a must have if you like Tom Clancy. The only down side is that the narration by Prichard is horrible. It was almost like he was trying to ruin an awesome story with his ridiculously bad performance. How does a guy like that even get a job doing narration? The only person that could possibly be worse is Rosie O'Donnell.

I'd still get the book though. It's worth suffering through the horrible Michael Prichard!

Colombian drug lords, bored with Uncle Sam's hectoring, assassinate the head of the FBI. The message is clear: Bug off! At what point do these druggies threaten national security? When can a nation act against its enemies? These are questions Jack Ryan must answer because someone has quietly stepped over the line.

Would you listen to Clear and Present Danger again? Why?

The story is very good and the premise of the novel is feasible. I like where the book went, and the development of the characters was great. If I could go back in time I would buy this book again for sure.

What other book might you compare Clear and Present Danger to and why?

This book is in line with any of Clancy's other books.

What aspect of Michael Prichard’s performance would you have changed?

Michael Prichard is not good at narration. I wish he didn't narrate several books in the series. I don't even know how he got the job actually. Lou Diamond Phillips is way better than Prichard. Roy Dotrice is the gold standard and Prichard is like a block of lead. He is slow, most of his characters sound the same, and he's slow. I have to listen to him at 1.25 speed just to tolerate him.

    Any additional comments?

Great book, I recommend it. Prichard is horrible, but the story carries the book.

In a time long forgotten, a preternatural event threw the seasons off balance. In a land where summers can last decades and winters a lifetime, trouble is brewing. As the cold returns, sinister forces are massing beyond the protective wall of the kingdom of Winterfell. To the south, the king's powers are failing, with his most trusted advisor mysteriously dead and enemies emerging from the throne's shadow.

Where does A Game of Thrones rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

    Top 5 ever!

What did you like best about this story?

Character development is the strong point of the book. Also, every character has a unique flaw that always puts you at odds with them.

    Which scene was your favorite?

Surely I can't spoil the book for people that haven't read or listened to it.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

There is, but it would be a spoiler. Let's just say it is a part where a very key individual dies.

    Any additional comments?

Roy Dotrice is the BEST at the craft of book narration! I often listened to this book with studio quality headphones, and it felt very near to watching a movie. His performance coupled with the content is very addictive. The subject matter and plot is strong enough to interest any person, but adding Dotrice just makes this book unstoppable! You need this in your library. Even if you read the book, the narration still adds value to the story.
