In the Metropolitan Museum of Art's exquisite Temple of Dendur, a controversial new exhibit is fiercely opposed by many among the upper echelon of museum donors. Alex Cooper steps into this highly charged ring of power players only to make a much more troubling discovery -- a young museum researcher has been murdered, her body shipped to the Met in an ancient Egyptian sarcophagus. Together with cops Mike Chapman and Mercer Wallace, Alex must penetrate the realm of the city's cultural elite to find a killer intent on keeping some secrets buried for eternity.

    Story

Good story. I purchased several in the series and this is the first I have listened to. I enjoyed the book, but I now know what other reviewers have said regarding the narrator. Hopefully I will get used to listening to her, but I have to agree all the sucking, smacking or what ever it is she is doing as she reads is very distracting. I am listening with ear buds. I notice all the books in this series are read by her and I looked at a list of books she has narrated and it is quite extensive so someone must like her. The story was very interesting and I am looking forward to the rest of the series.

Creole Belle begins where the last book in the Dave Robicheaux series, The Glass Rainbow, ended. Dave is in a recovery unit in New Orleans, where a Creole girl named Tee Jolie Melton visits him and leaves him an iPod with the country blues song “Creole Belle” on it. Then she disappears. Dave becomes obsessed with the song and the memory of Tee Jolie and goes in search of her sister, who later turns up inside a block of ice floating in the Gulf.

Hooray, another great novel by James Lee Burke. I love all of the Dave Robicheaux novels and can not wait for the next one. This one is just as exciting and well written as all the others. The character are wonderful and Dave and Clete are at it again. They can not be beat and this book does not disappoint.

Clare has just been through a devastating divorce. She's driven by anger and revenge...until she learns something about her ex-husband that forces her to look deep inside for the forgiveness and compassion she's rejected - and for the person she used to be.

This book was a definite Macomber story. Not as interesting to me as most of her other novels, but well worth the listen. I enjoy all of her books. This story is about a group of women who get together for support and friendship on Thurs. Each person has her own problems and hurdles to cross. As usual in the end they all turn out ok.

It was a horrible death: Maurice Questing was lured into a pool of boiling mud and left there to die. Chief Inspector Roderick Alleyn, far from home on a wartime quest for German agents, knew that any number of people could have killed him: the English exiles he'd hated, the New Zealanders he'd despised, or the Maoris he'd insulted. Even the spies he'd thwarted...if he wasn't a spy himself.

This book was hard to follow. I kept waiting for something to happen. The real crime did not take place until almost the end and then it became a who dunnit. I was surprised by who did it. I am not used to this type of mystery book, but I am glad I listened to it for a new experience. It was unusual, but not totally boring.

It looked for all the world like a terrible, tragic accident. Susanna Morgan had gotten up in the middle of the night, tripped, fallen, and broken her neck. Yet when detective Justin Westwood inspects the victim's apartment, he can't help noticing that the details don't quite add up. The glass on the bedside table is knocked over but there are no cuts on her body. The scrape on her knee looks suspiciously fresh. And then a terrified witness comes forward, confirming his worst fear.

This is the first Russell Andrews book I have listened to. Justin Westwood was a delightful character. The bad guys were really bad and Justin Westwood was able to go toe to toe with them and win in the end. I look forward to listening to more by Russell Andrews. He tells a good story in this book. The narration was good.

For LAPD homicide cop Harry Bosch - hero, maverick, nighthawk - the body in the drainpipe at Mulholland Dam is more than another anonymous statistic. This one is personal. The dead man, Billy Meadows, was a fellow Vietnam "tunnel rat" who fought side by side with him in a nightmare underground war that brought them to the depths of hell.

Topper is a hilarious, ribald comedy about a mild-mannered bank manager and two capricious ghosts, George and Marion Kerby, who make it their mission to rescue Topper from the drab "summer of suburban Sundays" that is his life.

Unlike other reviewers, I am glad I did not read the description in great detail before purchasing this book. It was a surprisingly good comedy. I did not realize that the whole story was a dream until the end of the book. It was very funny and I laughed out loud several times. My husband asked me what I was laughing about? I told him I was listening to a book about a man who buys a haunted car and can't get rid of 2 prankster ghosts, so he goes on an adventure with them. I liked the narrator of this book. He had a very pleasant voice and I think he did a good job. I usually read mystery/thriller books so this was a nice change.

I got this book because I loved the Snowman. This book is along the same lines, but not as interesting. I found my mind constantly wandering and I would have to go back and listen to parts again to keep on track. I finally made it thru the book. I have decide that Nesbo is not for me. This is an epic book, I wouldn't buy it again.
