On the beautiful Outer World planet of Solaria, a handful of human colonists lead a hermitlike existence, their every need attended to by their faithful robot servants. To this strange and provocative planet comes Detective Elijah Baley, sent from the streets of New York with his positronic partner, the robot R. Daneel Olivaw, to solve an incredible murder that has rocked Solaria to its foundations.

What made the experience of listening to The Naked Sun the most enjoyable?

The Robot Series really can do no harm in my opinion. Classic Assimov writing, great story telling, and really pulls you along so you want to know what happens at the end of the book.

Stealth. Gorgon. Regenerator. Cerberus. Zzzap. The Mighty Dragon. They were heroes. Vigilantes. Crusaders for justice, using their superhuman abilites to make Los Angeles a better place. Then the plague of living death spread around the globe. Despite the best efforts of the superheroes, the police, and the military, the hungry corpses rose up and overwhelmed the country. The population was decimated, heroes fell, and the city of angels was left a desolate zombie wasteland like so many others.

The events in the book cover about 2-3 days from what I could gather, which on its own isnt a bad thing but it just seems like not much happens and that this book is clearly part of a larger story instead of being a complete package in and of itself.

Having said that, if you have tons of credits it would be fun to get into I think, I just dont know if I would spend 4 months worth of credits to get through the series.

As a cyber-hacker born into a family of thieves, Clarissa O’Connell thinks she’s seen the worst the criminal underworld has to offer - until her brother is arrested and she’s forced into a pact with the notorious crime boss known only as Solomon to free him. When Clarissa’s cyberattacks begin to topple Solomon’s enemies, Erik is hot on her trail, believing her to be the key to bringing down Solomon and his empire.

    Story

I bought this as a daily deal not knowing that it was a "romance thriller" and while I usually wouldn't mind, the thriller plot was CONSTANTLY being interrupted by the high-school level writing of the romance plot. It was integral to the overall story, but the caliber of writing felt like the author who easily handled the intricacies of the other elements of the book let her little sister write the romance portion.

Once the romance plot came to its obvious conclusion the book was much more enjoyable, and the twist and turns at the end were good.

Lakshmi is a thirteen-year-old girl who lives with her family in a small hut on a mountain in Nepal. Though she is desperately poor, her life is full of simple pleasures, like playing hopscotch with her best friend from school and having her mother brush her hair by the light of an oil lamp. But when the harsh Himalayan monsoons wash away all that remains of the family's crops, Lakshmi's stepfather says she must leave home and take a job to support her family.

    Story

... But its basically exactly what you would expect from the story with no risks taken or captivating language or style.

Not to say I wanted anything exciting or unusual to happen, but it was basically a plain and generic telling of what happens to one of these poor and unfortunate girls.

That said, it was worth the listen.

With this anthology, best-selling author Brad Meltzer introduces 21 original stories from today’s most prominent mystery writers. In Laura Lippman’s "Waco 1982", a young reporter stuck with a seemingly mundane assignment on lost-and-found boxes unwittingly discovers a dark crime. In Joseph Finder’s "Heirloom", a scheming neighbor frightens the new couple on the block with an unnerving tale of buried treasure. In R. L. Stine’s "High Stakes", a man on his honeymoon gets drawn into a bizarre bet involving a coffin, a bet he may pay for with his life.

The story effortless flows from chapter to chapter, and seems to glide along faster than books half its length. While largely predictable and straight forward, there are a few twists and turns in there that drive the book forward and make it interested.

Will definitely be waiting for the next in the series.

Gentle by name, gentle by nature. Everyone in the sleepy Scottish town of Lochdubh adores elderly Mrs. Gentle - everyone but Hamish Macbeth, that is. Hamish thinks the gentle lady is quite sly and vicious, and the citizens of Lochdubh think he is overly cranky. Perhaps it's time for him to get married, they say. But who has time for marriage when there's a murder to be solved? When Mrs. Gentle dies under mysterious circumstances, the town is shocked and outraged.

    Minor Spoilers:

Aggravating when mystery books have the murderer turn out to be someone who wasn't really involved in the story until you find out they are the killer. Feels like the whole listening experience is wasted when the killer turns out to be a character you have no idea about until the very end.
