I went to Falling Water a couple of years ago, but learned much more about Frank Lloyd Right by reading this book than I did on the tour. A bit slow at times, but that's forgivable since the author was sticking as close to the "facts" as she could. Shocking ending.
This came highly recommended and I really wanted to love it, but I just never got into it. Maybe it was because I listened to it as I was falling asleep so I only listened in short segments, but I do that with a lot of books.
Characters were not particularly likable. Every time you think Johanna has a brain in her head it turns out that she was only smart by accident. And the author overused, and generally misused, the word "literally" throughout the book, to the point where it "literally" made me want to scream.
If you want a smart, sexy story about men in kilts, read Outlander. If you have already read Outlander, this book is guaranteed to disappoint.
I have really enjoyed this series! I do wish all the books had been read by the same narrator, but they all were very good, once I got passed the different name pronunciations. I think Adelia is my second-favorite heroine after Outlander's Claire! So when I finished this book that ended with... if not exactly a cliffhanger, then definitely leaving you wanting to know what happens next, I got on line to find out if there was a release date for #5 only to learn that the author is DEAD! Granted, she was 80, but STILL! I do realize it's fiction but I'm still left feeling like these characters are still out there having adventures but that there's nobody to tell me about them!
