"Amazing Continuation of a Wonderful Story!"
Picks up right where A Discovery of Witches left of and jumps into a whole new world of historical people, places and new obstacles for Matthew & Diana to overcome. Contains some of the most descriptive and interesting nuances of any book I've ever read or listened to.
This book is like nothing else...with the exception of its predecessor, A Discovery of Witches. There are so many real life people, places, historical events and opportunities for research-linking so much together you just can't even fathom! But even without knowing anything about those elaborate intricacies, it's a wonderfully fun and exciting experience. The first book seemed to be more about Diana, and from her point of view. This book seems to concentrate mire on Matthew, an his point of view. But don't worry, neither is left out of either book. In each, they both discover a great deal about each other...and themselves.
Jennifer Ikeda is a wonderful narrator and does an amazing job capturing all the accents, inflections and nuances of each character! It's simply unbelievable to me how she can come up with so many different voices for so many different characters, making each one completely separate and distinct!
Obviously, I would take Matthew out! He's the quintessentially perfect man-in my opinion! I'd love to try all the wines he loves & watch him savor their scents and tastes! And then, of course, there's the incredible vampire stamina and inventiveness in the bedroom I'd LOVE to experience! :°)
"Fairly Interesting but Predictable"
It should either be a little more thought provoking or move a little faster.
Saw it coming a mile away & kept waiting for the wrap up.
Scott
More suspense, instead of everything being more-than-hinted at. And a more drawn out story for Scott & Lisa...that was too ”we're fighting, now we're in love” without a lot in between.
It was a really good concept for a story, but the author missed the subtleties and suspense nuances that would have fleshed it out into a great story.
"Dark Edge of Honor"
It's a very erotic & emotional story of struggles, both inside and out. Very thrilling and engrossing.
Yes, the internal and external struggles based on duty, upbringing & loyalties span many prejudices and are relatable for many timeframes. Thoughtful & eyeopening.
Amazing! He has the best voice! Low, sexy, enthralling...and that accent!! Yum!
Do I really have to choose? A ”Mike/Sergei sandwich” would be yummy!
I think it's wonderful to explore new genres and subject matter to expand your mind and enhance your experiences.
